it’s not official yet but i might be getting a promotion without a raise

i was in an epic battle with one other person who wanted the position and he was like eh i have a babby so he gets to be closer to home and i probably get to do some felonies in big girl court now (not big ones just like burglaries and possession w/ intent to start). but the big boss is on vacation so it’s not clear what exactly will happen. might be a raise in the spring because a really old person is retiring. i’m scared bc i have serious impostor syndrome though.

I have been having a lot of that myself lately :( Promotion I got in March has turned into a scary big job w/ lots of people after me for stuff and having to keep track of people and what they are doing in far away lands and now i am getting employees and omg too much stuff to deal with.

Bu t I encourage you to keep at it because you are no imposter!

i had boss meeting today and i start nujob tuesday after labor day. he already assigned me some cases and one of my clients is one i have already had before who is gross and is in love with me :(

i’m working on a murder with my boss and we visited the guy, and we saw a federal public defender there. he was wearing a blazer. i was wearing a cardigan. the CO said you can’t wear a cardigan, no outer clothing. but said nothing to the other atty!

it sounds weird that you were working on a murder. also fucked up that you weren’t allowed to wear a sweater and the other person was allowed to wear a jacket. it makes me mad.

i never wear sweaters because i’m always warm, but ugh

it was a lady and she was actually pretty nice and let me in just this once because it was my first time there. but this was a regular state facility housing federal inmates and i have been in like 4 different locations and this was the only one where cardigans were banned. also my shirt underneath was sleeveless and that is also banned, which i knew.

i also always like to wear cardigans, a lot of regular longsleeve shirts make me feel weird. i have broad shoulders so stuff doesn’t fit right and pullover sweaters make me look funny imo.

I am the same! I even wear cardigans most days in summer because i also find a lot of sleeveless shirts to be weird/unprofessional and a/c is awful!

if you were driving in she might have said ‘pullover’ and it would have been confusing

i got reclassified at work now that means a very tiny meaningless raise! i bought dinner for us both incl one 1/2 price bottle of wine (happy hour) and 2 sazeracs and a pizza

also i got a new cardigan and it is seafoam green and very soft and warm and i am never taking it off

at the beginning that cardigan story sounded very pretty and appealing but by the end it sounded grimy and a bit batty.

ya it went from silence of the lambs to hindrance of the lambswool

today I was in a store that had lots of novelty gifts and there was a little bottle of hand sanitizer with a pic of a boy and it said “pee pee” with an arrow pointing to his front and “poo poo” with an arrow to the back and all I could think about was peepoop patel.

a client wrote me a letter that said in part “you are the best attorney i have EVER had! i could not have done this without you.” he’s in jail, which makes the second sentence quite comical.

that is amazing, congratulations!!

are you okay? i heard you got a head bump.

yeah i’m ok. sore neck and stuff and i do feel a bit of brain fog but i feel that way a lot so i don’t know if it was caused by whatever might have happened to my head. i don’t believe i actually hit my head. everything went black for just a second, it was kind of a thunderclap-ish feeling. i’m just sitting and not doing anything now that i’ve gone to the jail and eaten lunch w/ a work friend i haven’t seen in a while.

btw i got in ANOTHER car accident this morning. good thing i haven’t gotten the estimate for the other one done yet. a cab driver parked on the curb opened his door just as i was driving by. he immediately accepted responsibility and i don’t have to pay anything. no passenger side mirror, door totally scraped up, small scrape on rear bumper. bad luck, i swear.
