it was ok. i know i botched a couple things and forgot some stuff in my haste but everyone did. i wrote something for every question. the only big failures were a contracts question i got frazzled on and answered in a really bizarre order and part of an evidence question that had a rule i could never understand (but it had 6 parts that i answered most of). secured transactions question was identical to one i did in practice. no con law questions. ok not gonna think about it anymore!

anyway i think i’m gonna pass. multiple choice all day tomorrow, which is hard, but more studying won’t help. i don’t know what to do with myself!

i keep thinking of what other stuff i did wrong. it’s so hard not to ugh

yeah i can play with the cat but she sleeps from 8 am to 9 pm mostly. now i am watching her sleep half on her back with her legs spread open and in the air. yesterday when i was laying on my back reading flashcards out loud she would jump up on the bed with a chirp and lay down on my stomach. lol cats.

one thing i was amazed at was the number of people who didn’t come back for the afternoon session! there were a number of empty seats. that must feel bad.

a good thing to consider about all those empty seats this afternoon is that those who complete the exam must have a much higher pass rate than the statistics indicate.

yeah, the scores are also adjusted so anyone that shows up and gets only a few points is bringing down the mean score, which is good (for me)

you guys shoulda seen how many people in the room though! it’s in a convention center “expo hall” so if you imagine an “expo” of your choice, it’s the room without the boat ’n’ rv show exhibits and just rows and rows of tables w/ 2 people at each. about 2/3 of the room is for laptop people, the rest for handwriters. it must have looked so strange to a normal person, or maybe if an alien came and this is the first thing it saw.

they have those downstairs below my work and it’s always CPA tests. one time there were a bunch of girls out front waiting for the test to get over, holding signs to congratulate their boyfriends. my favorite sign said THE SUMMER OF OUR LIVES STARTS NOW

hmm possibly. maybe some retired people then. i just assumed they would make all their secretaries come in and proctor.

no but i heard some girls talking about it on the way out how some kid kept writing after they said stop. that definitely reflects poorly on his trustworthiness, honesty, and fitness to be a lawyer.

so my new job is looking to add a 4th supervisor. i have been there one month. i am crazy but not unstable and i think i would be a good supervisor. but if i apply and don’t get it, will there be office politics problems? weirdness? it’s only open to people already working there.

i spent years supervising part-time student staff, then full-time professional staff, then no staff, now part-time student staff and full-time professional staff. i am a good supervisor but i hate it and wish there had been a way for me to advance without becoming a supervisor again.

i figured out that they demoted one of the 3 supervisors who it only took me a few weeks to determine i did not like. her last action was a scoldy email to everyone about different rules that were being broken. we had a big meeting on friday about some things that were going on before i got there. i think after that meeting she was demoted by the other bosses who had the meeting. i am still on some of the wrong email groups and missing half the emails. i was wondering why she has sort of disappeared.

i am thinking i will apply but i still have a couple weeks to decide. i may have a quality that is needed. because i come from a well-run district everyone likes and this is a messy one with retention problems (i knew this coming in—i am here for the good commute tbh, and won’t die if i only last a few years here because i was thinking about moving on in that time frame anyway).

well, i hope i do get it. i’m trying to convince myself i might *not* get it so it won’t be so difficult to be rejected, but i think my chances are decent? also they did have to re-list the job for an extra week after it first closed, so maybe they didn’t get many applicants they wanted. my writing sample was really good.

i got my pension statement today and i’m excited at the thought that if i continue on my current pace of never using sick leave i can retire in january of 2039. accrued sick leave can subtract from your eligibility date. i will be 54. i just need to save up enough money to get me through the following 40 years. it’ll be easy. also i am going to retire in spain, uruguay, or bulgaria. everyone is invited to come stay with me.

my dad has always said gaelic, i had presumed that’s because his parents did but i’m not sure. he and my mom went last spring and visited a bunch of his cousins and their cows, and also the guy who lives in his mother’s old house (who is not related to us, lol), and since then has been sending me instagram videos of like how to count to 10, etc. i’m old enough to know i will probably not learn it, i’m not feeling motivated or disciplined enough to do anything lately!
