So I suppose the obvious question is why don’t I just let you upload to ILX, and the answer there is not that it’s hard to do; it’s pretty easy, it’s that it also requires bandwidth costs, and also some means of assurance that people aren’t posting problematic stuff.

Reply behaves differently, if you reply to something from a ‘while back’.

As in, it quotes the thing you’re replying to.

well, kinda. i guess what i was after was the ‘reply’ quote which produces that some of the time?

UFO, reply quotes a bit of the post (and links to it), if it’s more than about 8 posts back. If it’s closer than that, it just quotes the poster name, as I was worried about tons of duplicate information going all over the place.

If you copy a link, it always embeds a snippet.

I didn’t either. Not that I use it.

I’m glad you liked it. I had forgotten I made it (20 years ago). The first person who likes it told me that yesterday, which is part of the problem when gauging what people like and don’t like.

So I have it on the list to hide images, embeds etc.
