let’s talk small towns and outlying places
Small towns have their awesomeness and their soul-crushing aspects, sometimes equally but more often not.
Moving from a city to a small town a few years ago manifested in me being stunned to always run into someone I knew or worked with, no matter where I went. Grocery: boss; gym: dental hygenist; library: landlord; farmers market: coworker; etc.
Sometimes, that was really nice.

to get a mn license I need to go to a testing center at a location separate from the licensing center and take a written test (despite having a valid license from another state). that center is only open mon-wed. then I have to bring my test results to the licensing center to get an actual license. why????

i had to do this 20 years ago despite having a valid nc license!
iirc you just need to remember that your headlights are only good for 40 ft*

so we’re going back to the faroe islands in 2018 and i’ve decided on a plan:
- befriend as many locals as possible
- make a good impression by being awesome
- save up lots of money
- wait until neko dies of old age
- send heartfelt essay/letter to faroese government expressing how much we love the faroe islands and how we’ll be the most patriotic faroese citizens of all time, if they let us
- buy a village
- live happily ever after
