R&B singer Trey Songz is seeking the immediate “cease and desist” of reality TV star Dave Hester’s (of the A&E series “Storage Wars”) use of the catchphrase “YUUUP.”
According to reports, Hester was served a “cease and desist” from the singer’s lawyer, ordering the immediately stop uttering the word during the show ... which he uses to bid on seized storage units.
Trey (real name: Tremaine Neverson) is also requesting that Hester stop selling merchandising that showcases the word as well.
In response, Hester filed a suit, arguing that he using the term in a distinct different way.
In court docs, Hester claims Songz’ version “resembles an animal-like or non-human squeal which begins with a distinct ‘yeeee’ sound before finishing with a squeal-like ‘uuuup’ sound,” which would make it “distinct and different from Hester’s more monosyllabic sounding guttural auction bidding phrase ... which is meant to convey the meaning of ‘yes.’ ”
Hester’s suit seeks unspecified damages and a court order barring Songz from “interfering” with his use of “YUUUP!”, which he trademarked in September.
looooooooooool

Seeing as we live here in OC my girlfriend and I have rather taken to this show. And my girlfriend would love nothing more than to see Hester get his.
I’m thinking of copyrighting the word ‘twat’, so that whenever anyone discusses these two jokers I can claim a royalty.

^^^^ my favorite bit
I can’t wait until every celebrity everywhere has a common word trademarked as their personal catchphrase so we all have to be extremely careful whenever we utter a sentence.
the highlight of my phone interview with trey songz was when i referred to his other incoherent animal sound catchphrase (which sounds like “KUMURRRRRRR”) as “come here” and he fastidiously noted that he’s actually saying “come on”
lmao
“Use the Queen’s English, I said ‘come on.’ Do you mock me, sir.”
what the hell re: all of this
i honestly wonder if anyone else on earth has been exposed to enough of both storage wars and mmts’s music to find this as amusing as i do
damn osama thumbs up still has it
a thumbs up from beyond the grave
