I acquired this record back in Sept of last year and promptly misplaced it. After looking everywhere, I finally found it today and am on the third consecutive listen. Great snowed-in music. I think I love this.

I’m sure there’s a fantastic thread on the REAL ILM but for now please talk about Charalambides, what they’re up to these days, and any really good offshoots I should track down (like that Zaika cd-r?)

They’re playing Los Angeles tonight with MV & EE. Tour details here: http://www.wholly-other.com/tour.html

the sf show is with charlie nothing! amazing!

Almost every Tom Carter solo blat is worth your last penny, plus all the Wholly Other Charalambides cd-r’s that are around. Glowing Raw, Emerald Message, Dead/Live, Live/Dead....all better than A Vintage Burden imo, more psychedelic rawness. I like

Christina Carter’s Lace Heart deserves a shout over the above IMO...

True, and I always short of pennies.

I always, yes. I AM always.

word, good one. also her work with Alexander McGregor, We’ve. Great stuff....

I still feel the best Charalambides album is Joy Shapes. Sentimental maybe, that album really struck a chord

Much as love their albums, it’s really all about seeing them live.

I’m going to see them in Portland on the 20th! Never seen ’em before, very excited, etc. Also FINALLY tracked down A Vintage Burden and have put it in the front of rotation for the week.

I think my favorite is Market Square. I really want to hear Lace Heart and I should check the Time Lag website for that. I also really dig Christina’s new album on Kranky, Electrice.

Andrew McGregor.

and i’m as big a Chars fan as any, but the Glowing Raw/Emerald Message/Strangle the Wretched Heavens cdrs carry the faintest whiff of barrel-bottom scrapings. and i kinda hate A Vintage Burden. just reissue Market Square, ya goons. and Branches.

Took me a little longer to get into this one compared to the last two, but yeah, it’s great.

I also really dig Christina’s new album on Kranky, Electrice.

yeah, that’s really good! i love that they’re sort of easing back to the houston/internal eternal style.
