yes there is (spaceman 3, piper at the gates of dawn, garage and psych etc...), but it is so good, and so relatively unknown, it’s a shame people with good taste don’t know about it.(the fault is not completely their’s—small label release).

but matthew smith is a magical genius, and the world is blind and fool.

Hmm I don’t have that one but I have three other Outrageous Cherry records and I dig all of them.

RockFour—Supermarket

Space Opera—s/t

Abunai!—Universal Mind Decoder or The Mystic River Sound

and any of the first three Soundtrack of Our Lives albums, Welcome to the Infant Freebase in particular. BoSP is good, but it’s prolly my least favorite OC. Matthew just bit off more than he could chew. some really draggy parts.

Space Opera? it’s 70’s country-prog record.

Abunai!?—it’s too folk acid.

R

not at all like the Outrageous.

btw, does anyone know how are all those other Matthew Smith involed projects, except from Volebeats? (THTX,The Witches)?

i love outrageous cherry, i have everything they’ve put out excepting their first 45 and debut lp

i agree matthew smith is a genius. there really is not that much out there like OC, although their rainbow quartz labelmates are a good place to start. the abunai recommendation is also a good one. see also perhaps green pajamas and the lucky bishops

i have never heard any of his side project stuff sadly

i tend to agree that spectral projections is one of the weaker releases, but having delved back into it recently after thrashing their last three albums, i really dig it now. supernatural equinox is the most satisfying though

“supernatural equinox is the most satisfying though ”

really? what about “out there in the dark”?

i think “supernatural” is nice, but the production is better in “out there”,more rich and less polished which is good.

and their latest,“stay happy” is also great, although the too much lo-fi simplicity of it’s sound.

i think the lack of involvement of jim diamond really shows in the new one.

i love out there, but supernatural is the one i love best. it might seem weird but i think their songs do benefit from some polish, compare for example with the last clientele album (which upped the sonic ante without losing any of the charm)

which is the new one?

Our Love Will Change the Universe or whatever was brilliant.

Smith’s presence is also very enjoyably obvious on Denise James’s Rainbow Quartz album It’s Not Enough To Love.

The new one is called “stay happy”.

oh right, hence yr earlier post

and their latest,“stay happy” is also great

Also a tour is on the way.can’t wait.

I liked OC better when Deb Agoli was doing the Moe Tucker primitive drum thing...
