My dad just got back from a trip to Brazil and gave me a few cds of Brazilian rap for Christmas. They are as follows:

Marcelo D2MTV Acustico

MV Bill—Falcao: O Bagulho e Doido

Rappin’ Hood—Em Sujeito Homen

I haven’t listened to MV Bill yet. Marcelo Acustico is pretty good, it’s pretty much early nineties boom-bap mixed w/ lots of things imported from more traditional Brazilian musics. Rappin’ Hood, with a couple exceptions, stays within the bounds of American hiphop, but still jumps around between a bunch of different styles.

So I guess this can become an all-purpose thread for Brazilian hiphop, funk carioca, etc.

“O Que Você Quer Saber de Verdade” Marisa Monte

So there’s a new Marisa Monte cd out?

That’s not Brazilian rap, but this is (sorta, white American guy who moved to Brazil):

Stick it out to the end
