yeah, if you are willing to move to the 90s, round one and round two are a must, beautifully produced vocal house by basic channel with andy caine. plus, round one has a mindblowing remix by trent and chez and round two has some lovely bongos. i think it was jd stirmonster who said that round two got him through a shattered smashed broken heart and these two records definitely have that power...

i feel like a lot of the production of the early gay diva-dude vocal house is sort of flippant and it doesn’t match with the vocals but of course basic channel is not flippant, those songs are amazing, perfect tracks

Yeah I love the seriousness of the gay diva vibes on Round One and Round Two and “Moved” (which is a total Round Two tribute)—feels like an advancement or extension from the widescreen drama of “Your Love”.

Basically stuff which bridges the gap between the music listed in this thread and the music I was talking about on the Spooky Deep House thread.

I cannot vouch for the cd, I only have the last three 12“s. I passed on the first because I have most of it on other records. Nice stuff with good euro pressings, something you will not necessarily get with the original pressings.

This is more on the jackin Trax tip but it has a lot of nice stuff on it. I think I have the American version of this record. The track listing is identical but there is no mention of London on the cover. The pressing is a little dodgy because they are LP’s and they were cut

without the bass that you would find on 12” versions of the same tunes. A good intro, but most of it is in print or relatively easy to find 2nd hand.

There’s a CD mix of that too that’s really good, some of it is really weird underground stuff I’d never heard before, sounds really seedy, great comp.

That’s the only prob with this comp, the purposeful inclusion of some tracks that had remained obscure for a reason (they suck). But that’s French distinction for you. Then again it might veer far enough into beardo territory to find an audience there.

I’d been holding off on getting this because I didn’t click with DJ Deep’s Respect To DJ Deep comp from about 5 years ago, but it does look great.
