How many years until Christina becomes a gay icon first and foremost? A ways off I’m sure but I can’t help but feel I’ll be watching gay men give slightly ironic but awkwardly sincere (campy isn’t really the word here) tributes to her music till I die. See, once you enter the gay canon you can never leave the public spotlight really...Christina seems to have figured this out and now I’ve resigned myself to her presence in pop culture.

I can actually imagine this working quite well. Aguilera and Anderson share a taste for vocal largesse—where most indie covers of pop songs fall down is the plaintive indie whine factor.
It will be better than “She’s In Fashion” or the like surley.

Haven’t heard it but sounds as though it would make absolute sense. Sir Reg Dwight was a major boosterer for ‘The Still Life’, which I would imagine is the springboard for this cover.
