3. Joseph Conrad’s novel “Heart Of Darkness” was updated and transformed into 1979’s “Apocalypse Now”, starring a shaven-headed Marlon Brando. Pere Ubu’s song “Heart Of Darkness” (’75) contains the lyric “In the secret lab works Dr. Moreau”. H.G. Wells’ 1896 novel “The Islnad Of Dr. Moreau” was made into a movie at least three times over the (literal) century, most recently in a 1996 version starring a shaven-headed Marlon Brando!
