The New York Earth Room, 1977, is the third Earth Room sculpture executed by the artist, the first being in Munich, Germany in 1968. The second was installed at the Hessisches Landesmuseum in Darmstadt, Germany in 1974. The first two works no longer exist.
The New York Earth Room has been on long-term view to the public since 1980. This work was commissioned and is maintained by Dia Art Foundation.
Visitor Information
The New York Earth Room is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 6 pm (closed 3:00–3:30). Admission is free.

before i went to ny i tried to buy $10 tickets. i signed up for the knicks insider email newsletter to get the special code. when i tried to enter the code at work my oldassed windows 98 IE 5.0 computer couldn’t hack the digital magic it takes to process a credit card in 2009. i figured i’d just go, go to MSG and it’d all work out, find a pair there. i got there early and waited in line behind slow cash-only girls with clicky fingernails, counting out ones. then a guy walked up to me and offered me two, free, $80 seats.
was 97–97 with two minutes left and the knicks pulled it off. i didn’t care so hey, go home team, i don’t have a team, love lil nate robinson (and so did the kids, go lil nate, i’m almost as tall as you). knicks won by 6 and it was fun.
