It was at a county fair in Georgia. There was this misleading sign:

The only reason I paid $1 to see it was because of a smaller sign that said ¡Viva la Capybara!. I was like “HELL YEAH, A CAPYBARA!”.

When I was at Disney World’s Animal Kingdom earlier this year, my little sister and I were looking all over for a Capy but we couldn’t find any.

After doing a little research yesterday I found out that some Capybaras run wild in Florida and Louisiana and you’ll even find a small amount of people who keep them as pets in Texas. Of course this was all news to me. I don’t think there are many wild Capys in USA.

Capybaras weigh up to 140 lbs but I think the one in the picture looks more like 100 lbs. The top recorded weight is 232 lbs. They are the largest rodents next to the beaver and then the porcupine. ILX has a <3 thread for them.
