i do! traktor on an old laptop with 2 gigs of ram, the dj indigo soundcard, and a usb controller for crossfades and EQs and syncs and so on. it’s a tight little package, everyting’s very compact. the controller though is cheap plastic and will break one of these days.

have you messed around with traktor much? it’s fun and easy. i’d like to get my hands on final scratch sometime, just to play with.

here’s a question i’ve had for a while: when you play disco do you beatmatch or let one song play out and start the next? i find techno really easy to match and go on(it’s kinda made that way so it’s not surprising) but disco’s way harder, especially old stuff. it seems like the newer cosmic/beardo/spacey stuff is a little easier, but actual songs from the 70s, even the edits, are pretty near impossible.

i see tj gorton spin around town pretty often (the american athlete blog guy) and he doesn’t beatmatch often. that makes me feel better.

now that i’ve written all that out, and now that i think about it, didn’t you post a mix on the balaeric thread that was in fact beatmatched?

maybe this is just case by case.

no, i use my up faders to mix with the crossfader always in the middle. at the club i dont even have an option since both clubs i play at have one of these:

the ‘native mix’ recorder is crap. avoid it.

the standard audio recorder, which records in wav, is usually on page 4

then i import into itunes to listen and get it down to a usuable file size

no tricks, just tracks
