when i was moving here, i was pretty calm about the whole thing, you know, i didn’t cry once except when i said goodbye to my housemate’s dog (lol), i was just so excited to finally be with jordan. and then i was on the plane. and the plane ride was really awful. andthen 11.5 hrs later the pilot says we’re almost there, and that’s when i started completely freaking out:

the thing to keep in mind is that there’s a time limit on how long this awful feeling will last. it’s not forever! it might only be a few days, or a week! and then it’ll be great.

what does it mean when a realtor shows an apartment to multiple people at the same time? what if many of them want it, how does he decide who to give it to? i am going to look at this place today. email said “i am showing it today at 3:30.” isn’t that weird for apartments? i’m annoyed. i’m going to scowl at the other people.

some places listed on craigslist have “open house.” why???? should be like, you list it, someone replies, you show it to them and if they want it they get it amirite?

they do that all the time here. i think they have to give it to the first person who applies/qualifies. do they do that? doubt it.

i think you should be very friendly and charming — in other words, your normal self — and woo everyone with your wit, grace, and kindness, so that by the end of the showing they all want you to have it, even your apartment competitors.

good point! when my landlady was faxing the application to me and she didn’t know what she was doing and thought it didn’t work, she had her friend’s husband pdf and email it to me. joke was on all of them though, because the fax came through 3 times!

i hope i can figure out something because it is a cuet apartment, it has a reasonable-sized kitchen and also a loft that looks really fun! like you could put a futon and a tv up there and it would be like a secret tiny room. imagine all the things you could do up there! you can also hide from the cops or the national guard in the event of a disaster. i don’t want to get too excited though, maybe the other guy who was looking at it after me will get it but he looked flaky

oh jk copycat is closed on saturday and downtown kinkos is closed forever so i have to go to the one that is kind of far. i guess i’ll take a long walk tomorrow morning instead of running, i haven’t run since may anyway what’s another day

today is the one year anniversary of my last moving day—all the way from nz to usa!

i have the biggest apartment i’ve ever had all to myself but i still only have a bed and a coffee table (more like plant table. daisy and the herbs live there). i think i need to buy a vacuum today because waiting for a free one is not working.

yes this will be the biggest apt i’ve ever had! i can’t believe how long i spent in my last apartment with it being so tiny but i sort of enjoyed it sometimes

i had a mini shopvac that i bought with my lexisnexis points and it was TERRIBLE. it picked up some things, and it looked sort of clean, but there was still always my hair all over the place and the wheels would fall off if you picked it up, and it of course doesn’t have a bag. i hate how expensive real vacuums are. anyway don’t buy a small shopvac even though it seems like an attractive option (cheap)

how long does it take to get internet set up? i recall in rochester waiting for 23 days without internet because of big fall rush, and then in columbus it was no problem at all (though i called a month ahead i think), but i don’t know what’s normal. i guess i’ll wait until i sign the lease at least.

i had to wait a week from when i ordered til it was supposed to be activated but then it didn’t actually get activated til 5 days later so... week and a half to two weeks? rochester was always super slow with the hookups.

yeah i have been putting off the vacuum purchase bc they are so $$$$$$ but now i feel like i can not wait any longer.
