the time has come for a sandwich.

my left knee has been consistently hurting for over a week now, and i worry that it’s not going to get better and prevent me from doing my new job. if this turns out to be the case, i’m not going to be a very happy person.

how could it possibly get worse? We needs to consider the absurd noramlity of the things which affect traffic in karachi, the largest city of pakistan. Lemme jot down the possibilities which can result in a traffic mess..

1. Roads which are not wide enuf being blocked by street vendors and parked cars.

2. Peak office/school timings.

3. The all too common construction/destruction work which keeps happening thoughout the year(s). No route enables you to avoid this and the diverted traffice(from the site) results in a havoc on other routes. Some times on a route, one road is undergoing construction/destruction and one way is converted to a two way.

4. VIP movement. We wait while roads are blocked in honour of the VIPs.

5. Accidents. Not uncommon due to unruly traffic and insanely careless driving of buses and trucks.

6. Majority of the vehicles are in very bad shape. Breakdown of even a single vehicle wreaks havoc on the running(crawling actually) traffic.

7. Protests by political/religious organizations (once a month at least).

8. Jumma prayers being offered on public roads.

9. Rain. However rare, even the minuscule of rain is enough to fill up roads with water and disrupt the traffic.

All above situations are farily common. Now my friends.. consider that the traffic in the photo here is suffering from ONLY the 1st condition! :-)
