when we were children our parents would buy us these inflatable paddling pools and every summer someone (there were six children) would give into the temptation to stick a pin into it and then we would have to wait a year for the next one. i only did it once but it was thrilling, i don’t know what was best, the stealth or the wild accusations or the denials. i accused my sister of my handiwork in a voice of shocked outrage, i selected her because i believed she had done it the year before when i was the one who had got wrongly collared.

none of the children cared who had done it because we all understood the allure.

I wish I’d been that gutsy as a wee one.

i went to a book signing tonight and while stand at the back of the hall during the talk i saw this guy and thought hmmm he looks just like a guy i used to see round wellington all the time (i didn’t know him at all, but he was associated with some people i used to know). then when question time came round he asked something and he had a new zealish accent! it was the same guy!

i was going to go up to him and mention this strange occurence, but then i decided he was probably a douche and changed my mind.

Yeah I have a whole email folder of recipes my mom sends that I don’t make

I would be worried if you had.

My sister had a french friend in Peru who could not deal with the multiple starches on one plate (potatoes and yucca and rice, oh my!) and she just kept saying “it’s just not correct” which is sooo french lol.

I don’t really use recipes much except for inspiration or for baking.

whenever i am staying/living with other people though, it makes me think i am not a normal eater. but who cares.
