I was born at the North Middlesex Hospital, Edmonton, London at 4.10 am on the 17th October 1970. My mother was apparently told that she “got a lot of doctors out of bed”. It was apparently a difficult birth, involving forceps delivery and my mum needed stitches and was kept in hospital for a few days longer than is usual.
My mother was told by her GP, a Doctor Seifert (isn’t there an astronomer called that?) that was due on the 1st October. She thinks that she was given (up the) duff information deliberately coz she and the doc didn’t get on. My mother attributes this to the fact that when she first visited his surgery when she changed doctors when my parents got married, she enquired about a photo on the doctor’s desk.
“Is that your wife?” Mum asked.
“Yes” the doctor replied.
“It’s a rather old picture isn’t it?”
“Yes, but how did you know?”
“I could tell from her clothes”
“She wears clothes like that now.”

It’s funny, I don’t feel old, but so far I’m the geezer of this thread. I can think of three regular ILXors who are older than me and one who is almost exactly my age. I feel like I just got out of college a couple of years ago! Beth was right on the parents thread, it’s amazing how the time flies at this point.
