I’ve got two unused. Also, an unused business license that goes with one of them, which feels much worse to leave dangling.

if you do intend on using them i’d reccomend putting a holding page with a wee bit of text rather thank leaving them empty.

Helps them rank on google quicker (if you plan on putting stuff on there you want google to find)

that would probably be good but I can’t imagine anyone looking for them. One is based around my name and was meant to be a new home for my portfolio, the other is the name of a ficitional record label I’m writing about in a book. My brother might end up using the name for an actual record label but either way it seemed like a good idea to snag it.

Two, modsvsrockers.net and celluloidpropaganda.com. I had modsvsrockers.com, but someone stole it when I cancelled my hosting and then forgot to transfer it elsewhere.

I own perfectlycromulent.com, but to be honest, I never use it for anything anymore, except my mail. And frankly I’m sick of spelling it for people and explaining it to them, so I usually just use my gmail address anyhow.

I used to see tons of ad sites for ‘big bucks’ for people selling their ‘nice’ web addresses, but hey I never saw a bid for any of them on ebay.

I have memorygongs.com (tis a cocteaus songtitle). I liked the name as a jumping off for a blog I have run for years (hell, since before the word “blog” really, I just called it a journal and had short stories and things).

When I moved the hosting and website I didnt copy across all my pages, so now its in a bit of a limbo. I host photos on it tho.

yes you should! Just google for hosting services (unless you already have one and in that case use them.) you can park it too if you don’t want to have an active hosting account set up yet.

btw the domain I forgot I bought is originalsouth.com which I actually really like. I need to find out if my brother is going to use it for a real label or not so I can think of another for my book.

Nope. I still think it could work, though when I tell people about the concept, they look at me funny. As the daughter of a lesbian, I see that it could serve lots of people to have a place to claim the ancestors of their parental units, even if their parental units are not in the same blood line. It’s still fun to trace family history. I bought the name when gay marriage looked like it would be legal in multiple states, figuring when couples get married, they could post their trees.

Could also have someone develop a modified version of family tree generating software, with added family categories, like “real dad” and markers for straight/gay.

AFter my grandmother died I started trying to map our family with some genaology software. It was hard to try and fit in “real dad my mom never met” and various adopted parents, stepfathers now banished, etc. I think some of my family would rather leave those people off but I think if you’re going to do a history it needs to be thorough and accurate.

The genealogay software could totally be adapted to target adopted people, too. (She said, as if such software already existed.)
