This book has all the delights of a Victorian novel. I feel kind of old and jaded and unable to be surprised by plot twists but I’ve been totally taken off guard about four times by this book. Also Victorian lesbians = A++.

between my silliness and short story reading, i’m reading a novel that’s good but kind of slow at times. for my ridic attn span, anyway. red on red—crime fiction that isn’t so genre-y, more character based and less actiony. i keep checking out the ebook again and again because i’m too scrambled to read much of it at times but want to keep reading.
I and/or Sara will probably be up for some fountainhead, especially since it’s across the street. However, I’m working on Saturday so I might end up getting there a bit later on...

R and I went to a beer tasting/beer talk gathering for a charity she’s involved with last night at Hopleaf. Besides the tasty beerz and interesting factz we learned that Hopleaf is expanding, basically doubling in size, taking over the space adjacent to them to the south.

I’m reading Andrew Earles’ book on Husker Du, which is like terribly disappointing. For one thing, he couldn’t get Mould to take part (which, can’t fault Earles for that since Mould was writing a book of his own), so there’s a whole lot of “blah blah said that Bob said” stuff that makes me uncomfortable. Additionally, its just really awkward reading in general. Each and every time he talks about a peripheral person, he describes them by full name every time, like “tour soundman John Smith” and three paragraphs later, “so thought tour soundman John Smith”. And there have been more than a couple places where nearly word-for-word paragraphs have been repeated at various points.
Anyway, I’m disappointed because I’ve really been wanting to learn more about Husker Du and there seems be a lot of interesting things to say about them, this book just isn’t cutting it.

Bob Mould seems to be so from all his interviews from the band’s heyday, but I don’t think the band as a whole was humorless. I mean, they used to cover the Gilligan’s Island and Mary Tyler Moore themes live! If anything, we can shift some blame of the ubiquitous “ironic” cover song to them, but I don’t think they were devoid of humor.

you can also tell that people got to your site via the QR code, hence the “getting something for free” promotional aspect
we used the things for some PR/communications tests for the soccer crew, it wasn’t really worth the hassle in the end for us

Also, my favorite QR code misuse is when businesses send out emails w/ QR codes in them, because if you get the email on your phone, you can’t scan the QR code with your phone, and if you get the email on your computer, just click the link to go to the website.

I did it for years until I took a “break” about a year and a half ago, that as it turns out, might be “the conclusion” of my stint as a patient escort. I half burned out and half couldn’t take the abuse on my poor, wretched knee.

Pretty much, yes.
The less batshit crazy people just stand around and sing hymns or pray. There are a handful of totally crackers people who like, do this kind of harassment for a living, and they are the ones who really get into the “YOU ARE GOING TO HELL FOR KILLING BABIES” type stuff directed at the escorts, specifically. There’s also a healthy dose of misinformation about various Constitutional rights, so like if you offer to walk someone into the clinic because she is getting harassed by one of the more aggressive protesters, you’ll get some YOU ARE VIOLATING MY FREEDOM OF SPEECH type stuff.
Oh and one lady likes to fling holy water around. She’s not supposed to fling it on the escorts, but if you aren’t watching, she totally will.

Definitely. The crazy ones aren’t trying to accomplish anything with it. It’s more like they are just filled with hate and rage and if you are in the way, you will get an earful of it. Some of the more “normal” folks are crafty and evil and will try to provoke the escorts on purpose to make us leave or break the law. Like, I think some of them would love nothing more than to provoke an escort into punching them in the throat so they could use that to their advantage.
