How is that silly?

The warning label, obv.

my mom got me a page-a-day calendar of “silly” quotes. i don’t know why she thought i wanted that! who even uses page-a-day calendars?

My grandmother gave me a box of fortune cookies with a note that read: “No apartment should be without”. No one else in my family has been able to figure out what that means.

I got a Slanket, and it is great!

An unauthorized biography of Pamela Anderson.

I also got a tin windup Mario Battali who tosses a skillet of pasta and waves a bottle of olive oil.

i got a plush Charles Darwin from my sister

Sterling silver necklace from my in-laws with two charms; one is a Sandra Boynton-style hippo and the other is a tag that reads, “ADMINISTER CHOCOLATE IMMEDIATELY.

I am feeling very good about some re-gifting ILX secret santa next year. Actually, maybe we should start re-gifting immediately!

just had to re-post, it wasn’t a gift.

I got a padded bra covered with red lip-prints. Unfortunately, it was made for someone who has gigantic tits on a tiny frame. My alternate-universe self.

girl I’ve had a crush on forever got me a towel set for christmas... who gets someone towels?

I guess in someways a towel could be seen as an intimate kinda gift.

I got David Hasselhoff’s autobiography, but I did ask for it.

message being sent there, mickey (take a shower perhaps?)

Or “wanna take a shower WITH ME!” ?

Mickey shouldn’t get involved in towel-sharing

towels are great gifts!

I’ll pretend that Ned is closer to the truth than bliss

I got one of these in a secret santa

and although it’s very silly, it’s also been huge fun (esp when playing it drunkenly down the pub)

I like the Darwin. He looks so miserable in that vice-grip.

who wouldn’t? I’m reading the second volume of Janet Browne’s biog of Darwin at the mo. He suffered from very poor health through most of his life which what really made him miserable. And it was the reason why he didn’t attend the famous Wilberforce vs Huxley FITE! at the Oxford Museum in person....

is the Darwin doll part of an eminent Victorian series???

my grandma gave me flavored vodka in a poland spring bottle. (she pealed the label off first, though, and secured a vodka label with an elastic)

Beth your vise makes me SOOOO HAPPY!

The Tick vs. Season 1 dvd which is just what I wanted :) “Butter me, Pat!”

I think the Darwin doll is from these guys. I got a Michel Foucault finger puppet from them.

i got a foie gras mousse and also a sonicare toothrbsuh

Oh I also got a sonicare, has yours moved onto the next level yet?? It started off all gentle like and the last two days it is buzzing my entire face apart.

hm i didn’t know it had settings. it does seem more vigorous now though... i kinda love it. the sonicare makes oral hygiene FUN!

Wait, WAHT? It LEARNS? Or rather, teaches YOU? That is some seriously high-tech oral hygiene.

this thread is amazing

When I was 11, an aunt bought me a Moustache Trimming Kit. It must have been about another ten years before i could even grow one. Even then it struck me especially poor attention to detail.

Also, when I was a child a someone else bought a teddy bear that was steel lined and rivetted together, we used to call it Metal Ted.
