i use the word “gut” in my academic work and i totally forget that most people don’t use it as a stand-in for “gastro-intestinal system”. but yeah, it’s pretty funny, the word. i am totally fascinated by this gut microbes discovery. obv.

I like the Ramona Quimby book where she’s trying to think of the worst word she can say in anger, and shouts “GUTS!” like a curse word.
