Have you ever made a pun without meaning to?
On Saturday night before the Jarvis gig at the Roundhouse some mates of mine were having dinner at a gastro pub in Camden called the Crown and Goose or possibly the Goose and Crown. Most of our meals came with rocket.
I said “Isn’t incredible how rocket has really taken off as a salad vegetable?”
rocket rockist.
(there, I got in first.)
this was prompted by M Grout referring to a “mark of honesty” on another thread btw.
Oh man!
I see that now.
“lying on the floor, groaning my ass off”
on another occasion when I was in the pub with some colleagues and a wasp was bothering us and my coilleague Stuart managed to karate chop it in half. Yes, you may be sceptical about this and we could hardly believe our eyes, but the head was on the floor a few inches from the thorax and abdomen—the evidence was there for all to see. I recalled a previous occasion when a wasp was bothering me and said
“I was buzzed by a wasp once....”
i had a good one the other day. i forgot it now.
it’s hard to come by because i try to intentionally pun as much as i can and pre-scan most things i say for potential puns before i say them. it’s a real burden
The best is when you do this and your friends laugh much harder than you think they should be doing and then you take credit for it by keeping schtum.
it’s a real burden
