Right then, since the main board is down, we’ll move things here.

I’ve been playing the exp to Call of Duty, as well as the 2004 RTS version of Axis & Allies, which is cool, but crashes even more than the rest of the games on my systems.

What you doing?

1. Playing Chrono Trigger for the first time ever FINALLY. OMG.

2. Anticipating the Wii with every fiber of my being.

Also, there’s 3 great demos out there right now for games being released next month:

Caeser IV: Imperial city builder download here screenies here

Faces of War: WW2 RTS (less like Command & Conquer, more control over individual squaddies) download here screenies here

Star Wars Lego: Original Trilogy: (this is awesome) download here

Oh yeah, and a bunch more demos here

Star Wars Lego: Original Trilogy

It’s about time!

After a 7 hour one-day binge of Def Jam: Fight for NY on Xbox I can pretty much say I’m done with the single player for good (once I unlock Snoop of course), so I’m going to move on to something hopefully completely different. I just bought Samurai Jack on PS2 which should be a treat because I love the cartoon and Sega. The two combined have the potential to be incredible.

If this fails then I guess it’s’ back to Psychonauts, which I still haven’t finished.

Lego Star Wars looks fantastic—I love the way it looks like they realised that building a Lego Rancor would have been near impossible, so made it a pre-built character like the dragons in Medieval Lego. I’d quite like to give it a go, but no doubt my PC’s not good enough.

Now that I have a laptop I can actually game on, I really should get round to Psychonauts. After I get round to the rest of my Sims expansions. And the Movies. And B&W2. And and and.... sigh.

Can we talk about SCRABBLE? it’s also a game, no?

Faces of war is impossible! I d/loaded it a while ago and had to give up. I like the look of the Caesar thing. I miss ILG :( Had a good rant ready about GTA:LCS again :)

WOOT! First time using Italics.

we can talk about scrabble

We can ALWAYS talk about scrabble.

I had to put Chrono-Trigger on hold because my roomy is being stingy with the PS2, so I went gungho and hooked up the SNES to a tiny 12“ tv and have been playing the other classic-RPG-I’d-never-played-before—FINAL FANTASY III—and am in LOVE.

messing about w/gta3. thinking about scraping up for a psp so i can play gta:lcs.

you can play it on ps2.

psp is a waste of money and if youre anything like me, you wont be able to play it for more than 5 minutes without becoming seriously ill.

I haven’t got a ps2 either!

I just have a PC at home.

I have only ever once played an “X” word on a triple word score in scrabble, as far as I remember (lots of drunken scrabbling). That word was “exist”.

get a cheapy ps2

Anyone else looking forward to Okami, the PS2 sun god/wolf calligraphy game?

i thought that already came out

September 19 according to Gamespy (for the US). It’s been out since April in Japan.

donkey kong country. amazing. broke my ds. not amazing.

I just got a xbox 360 (yes!). any recommendations as to what games I should get?

DEAD RISING !!

Also Tomb Raider Legend looked ok.

The Arcade Live games are ACE.

Watch yer internet d/l limits though (if you have them)—we slammed thru about 5 gb in a week just going “ooh cool demos!” on the xbox live thing and grabbing everything in sight.

Animal xingors—Pulquedo’s gates are open for the next hour or so if you’re playing :) I picked all my exotic fruit, but there’s apples if you want ’em.

hmm, haven’t even checked xbox live yet. Cable has to do the dreaded doorway-cross to make it to the room with the modem in it. So far I’ve just been hammering table tennis.

Pfft, our entire flat is cris-crossed with ethernet and power cables!

Mind you I *do* keep tripping over on them and hurting myself.

We played a mini Scrabble tournament AND I FUCKING WON. WOOHOO! I’m actually not that good. I should go for new words, but a lot of the time I just make a word plural. I feel a bit of a cheat that way. :-(

Beat my friend at Scrabble tonight.

Also, played the Märklin Edition of Ticket to Ride on saturday. I think I like it better than the regular edition, for just the addition of the little passengers. They have their straw hats on, their heads tilted full of optimism towards the sky, their bags packed and they’re ready to go.

Hahah. Mongrels Ed to thread: he’d trounce you all in Scrabble. He’s some sort of national Scrabble champ, apaz.

Speaking of board games: best thing in the world is drunken Pictionary, innit? Especially if you make a little note on yr scrawl after the round of WTF it was you were doing.

I somehow won a whole game, teamed with good friend K (against her fiancee and my bf) by drawing “pina colada”. Somehow, drawing a cocktail glass and a coconut tree won the day!

i DRANK a cocktail last night. this is probably why i won: the others were inebriated but for me the alcohol doesn’t affect my pea-sized brain. is it considered a faux pas to make words plural lots of times? i discovered yet AGAIN that my dutch is horrendous! fuck new spelling rules!!!

MOJITOS oh how i love thee!

Guys guys guys, it’s a new season in Animal Crossing which means new bugs and fish!

I haven’t played it for about 6 weeks and I’m scared to switch it on.

— badg (...), September 1st, 2006.

you can get a router and a wireless receiver.

and tomb raider legend IS good.

played more of Caesar IV demo, and CivCity Rome

Nathalie, did you ever get logged in to ISC/install Wordbiz?

can’t cross Animals until this weekend. I’m a couple days behind, but may try to catch up over the weekend to take advantage of new bugs and fish!

anyone going to be around this weekend for visiting? I feel all weird going to the AC online community and finding 15 yr olds to befriend.

We’re traveling again this weekend, but will be in a hotel with fairly decent connectivity—look for Pulquedo or drop me a note :)

I caught red dragonflies, monarch butterflies, and a migratory locust at lunchtime today. Mr. Jaq caught a rainbow stag beetle—10,000 bells!

I think I have maxed out my house—three huge downstairs rooms and the second floor?

Nathalie, did you ever get logged in to ISC/install Wordbiz?

wot u saying? i dont understand! :-(

Yeah that’s it. Don’t waste money by paying the last mortgage, you won’t get anything.

xpost

You may not have seen this on the regular-ILX Scrabble thread before it went down, but I linked to the Internet Scrabble Club, where you can also get the Wordbiz program to play online.

I shall now play counterstrike using the power of drunk. Wish me faces.

Aw, I must have missed half of the stuff from the last Animal Xing season :( I am looking forward to winter though, like on the ads when the game launched.

Yesterday I spent over £20 on a Megadrive game :/

What game?

Shining in the Darkness. It shouldn’t necessarily be that expensive, but it was hard to see it in such great condition in real life and not buy it.

On the other hand though, I’ve just worked out it’s my 200th PAL megadrive game, unless there are any I’ve forgotten to count!

Flea Market day always gives me the shits. Especially when they’ve already been to my place and then complain when I’m not at home when I want them to go home so I can visit and buy. Plus, Lucy tried to buy EVERYTHING I own.

But tonight I got me...K.K. SLIDER’S PICTURE! BOOYAH!

You may not have seen this on the regular-ILX Scrabble thread before it went down, but I linked to the Internet Scrabble Club, where you can also get the Wordbiz program to play online.

Oh THANKS so MUCH! :-))))

I made about 50k selling shit thanks to the flea market. Who rules? I DO.

⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯A month passes⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯

tell me what i should get: rocket slime, mario & luigi: partners in crime, or contact? contact looks pretty cool, i think it dropped today, it’s made by the same dudes that made earthbound, anyone played it yet?

also, ffiv advance vs. tactics advance? is tactics just like advance wars? or can you wander around villages and stuff?

You can’t walk around freely in ffta, and i’s not much like the FF series at all, though it’s pretty addictive and fun in its own right. All you do in it is choose a mission, find the place where the mission is (on a kind of map screen, no wandering around much), fight, wash, rinse, repeat, whilst levelling up and switching jobs. I’d go for ffiv myself, it seems to get drowned out by vi and some of the later FFs when people talk about the best ones and doesn’t get the credit it deserves..

I picked up a card game at the HPL Film Fest called Creatures & Cultists:

which also has the fun card of Suck the President’s Brain.

issue of The Escapist with a nice article on Psychonauts and the use of art in games.

SpikeTV is having the Mega64 dorks do the adverts for the game awards this year, and fully admit in the ad how shitty the previous awards have been.

their 2nd bit is not quite as good.

Hello this is all rather odd. How are we?

BNA!

So what’s up? Who here likes Guitar Hero and Chronos Trigger?

Mmm Guitar Hero has been fun. I’ve been seriously digging Okami too.

god, excite truck

Anyone playing Vice City Stories?

I got a psp last week with this. Its great, athough i hate the pop up when you drive really fast. and my radio keeps cutting out, which is quite realistic actually.

Just opened up the second island. I’m loving the fact that you can replay rampages, and the option to buy back all your weapons once you die or get busted.

the AK is king.

Should I buy Yoshi’s Island DS or Yoshi’s Island Advance? I never played the original.

Anyone playing Vice City Stories?

I think I’m done with the GTA series for awhile.

I was playing plain ol’ Vice City, trying to get 100%. That was ruined when one of the rampages I failed didn’t regenerate. I was aiming for 99% just for kicks when last night, while I was doing some boat thingy, I just lost interest. Just like that.

When I think of a new GTA, but still with fire, paramedic, and vigilanted missions, my brain just dulls up. They better think of something different—and NOT DATING OR EATING—fast.

the wiki for GTA IV, apparently written and edited by 12 year olds.

1. Playing Chrono Trigger for the first time ever FINALLY. OMG

- August 23rd, 2006

LOLZ way to post prematurely (I didn’t have a memory card and gave up within 1 hour)

However NOW I am playing CT, and saving game.

My mom took the week off to play Twilight Princess. She just called me all like hyperventilating “he just turned into a WOLF!”.

hahaha. my dork friends will take the day off work to bounce from store to store in an early morning scrounge for a new GTA game and play it for the rest of the day, but this is the first time I’ve heard of somebody doing it for a week, much less somebody’s mom.

finished gears of war on casual, must be again

playing a bit of elder scrolls oblivion, dont know how i feel about it yet

omg yr mom is pwnj

Finished FFXII last night, the last boss is cake if you set up a bunch of support Gambits.

Just got a DS Lite the other day so I’ll be playing FFIII, Animal Crossing, New SMB and Mario Kart for a while along with finishing up Bully on the PS2.

They better think of something different—and NOT DATING OR EATING—fast.

no this is perfect actually it could take place present day starting out w/trying to decide on a restaurant and learning all the kinds of sushi and stuff in the end you open yr own bistro in a quickly gentrifying neighborhood.

My mom and dad both have like 7 weeks of vacation/year now, they take weeks off for the most random, awesome things.

does anyone have the wii need for speed carbon?

Wii = pre-ordered. hurrah!

When I think of a new GTA, but still with fire, paramedic, and vigilanted missions, my brain just dulls up.

I kinda know what you mean, but I still love the vigilante missions because they’re always different. I’ve never liked the Paramedic missions and the fire ones are just ho hum.

They tried some variety in VCS at least, have you driven the ambulance and fire helicopters? And there’s beach patrol, and you don’t have to start at level 1 each time either. So yes I do hope the next big GTA game tries something new here.

It’s the pizza delivery missions I find pointless, LCS had at least 3 of these alone. bah.

For me GTA is all about racing other cars, those crafty fish tailing manoeuvres, the old luring the other car into a wall trick, and all the fun to be had when the cops are after you. The on foot missions are too easy.

I’m loving VCS at the moment, the 99 red balloons thing is genius. Have you seen the ‘little willy’ copter, oh my!

I stayed up until the wee small hours opening all the Lego Star Wars 2 levels and characters up for my sons.

I’m getting too old for this shit.

wp tho!

:)

The thing is, when I told the boys this morning they were like “Yay, now we can make a character with Darth Vadar’s head and Princess Leia’s boobs!” and Anne ended up shouting at them for being rude.

Best kids ever!

whoops!

Just opened up the second island.

i have been playing for a month and am still on the first island. great game tho, although the cut scenes are pretty rubbish, esp. for GTA. feels like some rub. exploitation movie.

have found exactly one balloon so far, near the stadium i think, but cannot reach it. also found the ‘defending your businesses’ bits tres glitchy, so now just let ’em damage the premises and then go by to fix it up. every time i get in/out of a car, two bikers come and try and kill me—happens like 3 times every ten minutes. i must have pissed them off.

the businesses thing is great, the radio awesome.

you know you only have to pop the balloons right? so you can shoot them from a distance.

it’s great when you open the second island, you get access to most of the helicopters and boats.

i haven’t had to defend my business yet, is this because you’ve purchased all the buildings? i haven’t done that yet.

are we allowed to take electronics on planes? ive got 19 hours of flying to do next week and im thinking maybe VCS on the psp

Check with all your airlines especially the day before as the rules change all the time. I cannot emphasise the ‘all’ enough, it’s not worth the hassle to get to a hub for a changeover to discover that you can’t bring it on. Bye bye PSP!

right. im sure qantas will be cool with it but american is another story

you know you only have to pop the balloons right? so you can shoot them from a distance.

aha!

i haven’t had to defend my business yet, is this because you’ve purchased all the buildings? i haven’t done that yet.

i have indeed! at least for my side of the island. i’ve also jacked up every operation to ‘high roller’, so am coining in some serious dough. have you tried the multiplayer modes yet? i don’t know anyone else who has a psp, is there some wireless netplay option?

also, i can’t swim very well. is it me or the game? i drown a lot.

yeah swimming is a bit doggy. i only use it for those times i accidentally ride my bike into the drink. the stamina bar makes no sense

ah so that’s what you’ve been spending the month doing. i’ll have to catch up there.

not tried the multiplayer mode, i have a wireless router in my house and i think i’ll switch it on tonight to see if it does anything.

Am playing X-men Legends II and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Both are fun a little smash-em-ups with some RPG-lite stat controls. It’s like Gauntlet, only with more pertly rendered asses.

And Iron Man.

Also, the demo for the new Sam & Max game is out. The game is episodic, with a new one every month ‘til May. The demo is fun and you guys should really try it out.

[Well,, that sucked.]

There’s a song in ExciteTruck that sounds like Joe Satriani playing Magma.

What system is that

I am officially going to my mom’s house tonight to play Twilight Princess.

your mom is my twilight princess

I haven’t even opened Twilight Princess yet. It’s all about ExciteTruck right now. Are any of the other Wii launch games worthwhile?

The sports ones are, supposedly

I will at least try an in-store demo of Red Steel.

I bought it, but haven’t played it yet. I heard it’s fun.

Finished Bully and my first house payment in AC:Wild World.

I can’t really be bothered with anything right now apart from Pro Evo 6. But I can only play that round at my friend’s bit so it’s a bit disatisfying. Wake up in the morning with a hankering and he’s away at work. Bah.

i have been just THIS CLOSE to buying a used ps2 for ever, but now i can’t cos it’s the holidays and i have shit to buy for, like, other people.

but also, with the magic of emulator freeze states i have been able to BEAT BIONIC COMMANDO.

Pole position at vice city—to complete the asset, you have to spend a certain amount of money on a private dance in the back room. It’s really tedious, I wound up getting Tommy V into the back room, starting off the dance, then going for my dinner, leaving it running. It’s like watching wood warp.

Docks in Vice City—there’s a pay and spray, I _think_ an 8-ball mechanics place where you can get a car turned into a carbomb, some hidden objects, one of the printer missions starts off there, and the boatyard asset. IIRC one of the buildings there actually has an interior that is inaccesible, suggesting there might have been some other mission there that got left out. I read somewhere that it was one of the Pastor Richards missions that got cut b/c the actor died, I think that was just speculation though.

there’s a couple of back rooms in Pole Position, for private dances. Just spend a bit of time in them and it’ll become an asset. No proper missions unfortunately

Cheers Ste, that worked a treat. Having a terrible time with the mission involving other criminals in disguise!

I am trying to track down a copy of Shadow of The Colossus here, nowhere seems to have first hand copies anymore. Gamespot don’t have any second hand copies either!

Cheers Pash. I haven’t reached Pastor Richards yet. I find the Checkpoint Charlie mission in the boat a pain in the face. Still, must persevere. Saving up for the Printing Works!

another bit on the Left Behind game, where the gamemakers are spamming blog comment sections, claiming the game teaches “verbal defense,” etc

If you like, here’s Focus on the Family’s review of the game:

Eternal Forces is a real-time strategy (RTS) resource management game that focuses on a handful of boroughs in New York City. There you’re challenged (through 40 lengthy missions) to evangelize the people of the Big Apple, house them, feed them and find ways to stay alive while the enemy does its best to take over the city and crush you underfoot. You start out with a few people (units) in your control, send them out to gather resources (money and real estate) and train them up to become musicians, builders, nurses, pastors, disciples and soldiers, each with his or her own function for the community and impact on the world...

See, even tho it’s an RTS with guns and violence n’ shit, it’s actually just like Sim City!

ack, sorry, there aren’t any pastor richards levels in the game. supposedly there were going to be some, but the voice actor died and they got pulled. Argh, I’m totally obsessed with “vice city”.

so as it turns out, Kid Icarus being released on the Wii Virtual Console causes my brain to start playing back the chorus from Mister Mister’s biggest hit ever, over and over again, right down to the wanky e-piano chime sounds and all that shit. Fuck Kid Icarus.

so you’re saying you’d prefer the Cutting Crew memories.

Or even Lisa Lisa and her jamming cult.

that’s not even a question!!!

Mister Mister makes me think of playing Tapper (the pre-Root Beer version) and Star Trek in the rec centers of the campground chain we’d hit on summer vacations

lol at “voting channel”

i vote for anarchy

OMG HAPPY VALENTIBS DAE LUV LINK.

HART MELT IMINNANT

Do WWF/WWE games have swearing in them? The kids want a wrestling game.

(TS Exposing your children to violence vs letting them hear someone say ‘asshole’, I know)

They shouldn’t, should they? I mean the whole thing is pretty PG I would have thought.

Pash, someday I’ll forgive you for leading me on like that with the promise of more missions. It’ll take a while though, I hope you understand.

No Nintendo products in South Africa now. No distributor, y’see.

I am very sorry, kv_ I do find the missing bits from computer games weirdly fascinating, especially when the gap shows a little bit.

I saw the DVD of the movie of “Doom” in Woolworths this evening. 3.99. I was tempted (for teh lulz) but resisted.

They shouldn’t, should they? I mean the whole thing is pretty PG I would have thought.

I ordered one anyway—it’s rated 16+ but I think it’s only for the violence going by the wee symbols.

have been getting back into VCS again, i can’t play it for long periods of time though. It’s taking forever to finish.

Just finished two bizarre missions: ** SPOILERS **

Domestapod, control the robot around the house performing chores and trying to find the safe. Fucking long winded and hard, play ‘mastermind’ trying to solve the four digit safe code.

Protect Phil Collins while he’s singing In The Air Tonight. HAHA this is like a full live performance of Phil where he walks around the stage singing until he arrives to his drum kit or that kick ass drum riff. Anyway, knock fuck out of the guys trying to unscrew the roof rig that would fall on Phil’s sorry head.

There’s no swearing in the WWE games, though in one of the recent ones if somebody went through a table the crowd would chant “HOLY (pause)! HOLY (pause!)”

Okami’s alright ennit?

Ste that sounds like a mission I’d enjoy failing!

Well so long as it’s only the violence then Noodle :)

this is a mission i may purposefully fail a number of times. (xp)

still stuck on the same two missions i mentioned on the main site—i’m gonna leave it and go back later. i now own ALL the businesses. surely the sharks and bikers should have dissolved by now?

if somebody went through a table the crowd would chant “HOLY (pause)! HOLY (pause!)”

Awesome, I so want my kids doing this!

Putting each other through tables?!?!

Pretend tables.

Thin balsa wood or something.

Actually balsa doesn’t break easily does it?

no, breakaway props are made with balsa, but they’re also built differently from yr avg table/chair/etc.

http://crazymonkeygames.com/Zombie-Horde-3.html—This has been taking most of my afternoon!

Pshaw! Fake tables? Get ye to the kids be pussies thread!

Those breakaway props are a bit expensive. Kids’ll need to make do with real steel chairs.

ECW would occasionally show what happens when non-gimmicked tables were used, and Fit Finley put his foot thru a formica table in WCW, which cut up his leg/knee so badly it kept him out of the ring for 7 years.

I think half the time they’d just take saws to the thing, and score ’em up real good.

xp watch some backyard wrestling vids to see what happens with that

I watched a backyard one of some kids getting clocked with a proper trash can and he was well fucked.

kid*

Those breakaway props are a bit expensive. Kids’ll need to make do with real steel chairs.

That’s the spirit. I’ll skip every post between this one and that one as it’s obviously people disagreeing and that’s just crazy talk.

there will be a day.

when i have a different job.

and i will never play another sonic the hedgehog game.

oooh, which one did you have to wade through? the secret rings?

is that the DS one?

wii play is kinda disappointing in that I seem unable to play billiards sitting down. But racing cows and shooting stuff is good fun.

the w11 1 (s3cr3t r1ngus). it’s sort of striking in a way.

striking, you say?

(in the degree to which it doesn’t work on a very basic level, i meant)

haha Matt I suspect googlers looking for baltimore club music might be just as bad as people looking for prerelease tidbits on boric teh medgehog, but work-rel so I get it.

the DS one was pretty bad, in terms of the difficulty curve. is this one like that, just flat-out completely unchallenging until you run up against something that feels almost impossible, then back to nothing?

why doesn’t the wii version work? that’s disappointing to hear

Prob cos it’s a pain in the ass spinning your wrist that quickly...

you steer s0n1c like a car, kind of. (like excit3truck w/a hedgeh0g) then jump by flicking the wiimote, he runs automatically...it’s just...really bad...

i keep wondering why they make new games for him, then i see the sales numbers and am flabbergasted by how much they still sell, esp. compared to awesome stuff like okam1 or psych0nauts that are great and do zilch : (

(also t0m i’m probably being silly, but one can’t be too careful...that’s why i hardly ever post in ILG to begiin with)

I think Sega is trying to pull some kind of “The Producers”-style insurance scam by making their games as bad as possible.

Since there’s no wrestling board/thread and we’ve been talking about it here:

Kid disqualified for Dad interference.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxhEyKhNOwA

i’m quite puzzled by Dice & Domino! who woke up in 2007 and said “we need to have a tag team that looks and acts just like ANDREW DICE CLAY!”

do you not like the gameplay concept or the execution? the concept seems fine to me, but i haven’t played the game.

what’s that? You say you want teaser info for Tekken 6?

Well, here you go

in japan i bought the ps3 and several games (virtual fighter for ps3) for my husband. woohoo

Sonic has become his own childrens’ animated movie that comes out every summer and produces a top-selling AAA title on nothing more than brand recognition, and then sucks ass.

cousin larry I’d say based on the last few additions to the franchise any animal with spiky hair from Sega should be steered well clear of, unless you like throwing money away and hating yourself

also seriously I’m going to import this I don’t give a flying fuck about the fact I haven’t read japanese in 8 years and forgot all of it

Elebits is totally fun, y’all.

Hai! I’m sure this has been discussed on ILG before, hell, might have been discussed on this very thread for all I know since I didn’t read all of it, but...say you’re fiteing a really hard boss, and he keeps kicking your ass over and over again, and you realise that it’s gonna take many more tries to beat him, so you turn off the console and chill for a sec...what’re some good come-down remedies for that? Cuz I’m in this sort of situation and every time I switch off the console I feel not only frustrated but totally WIRED for like an hour, it’s no fun at all :(

You mistake is in turning off the console. You’re supposed to just keep trying and trying with no breaks at all. An effective technique is to deny yourself basic amenities such as food and water, and bathroom breaks, until you manage to get past the tough part.

And if that doesn’t work, pause game and go to sleep. When you awake, you’ll be able to magically beat the game in one go.

That’s how I finished Shadow of the Colossus and ffx-ffxii

more proof that second life/WoW leads to loose morals, and addiction and shit. Peddlin’ your ass for online credits, it’ll hook you faster than suckin’ on that glass cock, boyyyyyyy

Dr. Orzack sees similarities between MMO addiction and more traditional behavior disorders such as compulsive gambling.

Just wait til the DSM V comes out, then yer all screwed.

I finally got a Nintendo DS. And a buttload of games. My 5-second synopses after playing them for, like, under an hour each:

Trauma Center: So far this is amazing. I can see it getting boring super fast, though.

Brain Age: WTF? This is awesome. I definitely DON’T use my brain ever, because after playing this for like 30 minutes I started to get a bit manic. It was like drugs for my BRAIN, MAN.

Big Brain Academy: Eh, didn’t like it as much as Age.

the first castlevania: actually only looked at the intro screen.

Cooking Mama: yet to even put it in the machine.

New super Mario Bros: You know, I’ll say it... not blown away. My friend puts it as his fave SMB game of all time... and Yoshi’s Island second. I think they both rank at (or near) the bottom of my list. SMB3 first, SMW1 second, SMBLL third, SMB2, SMB1, Yoshi, this game. But I’m only on world 2, so what do I know.

I still need to get the Castlevania DS games.

And the Fire Emblem ones, too, just for good measure.

There are Fire Emblem DS games?! OMG want to play.

nah, these are just the GBA titles

I rented three Wii games this weekend, one of them sucked completely (Metal Slug Anthology—why was this released for Wii, again?), and one of them was identical to the DS version (Trauma Center: Second Opinion) I stopped playing it because I hate being insulted by manga characters.

The other one was Zelda, and it completely rules.

Oh, and Wii Play is precisely the waste that all of the pre-release reviews and other region folks claimed. Get it if you need the controller, because it takes about three hours to complete every single minigame at the highest level.

I finally put ’em on the glass ceiling re: WoW—after one month+ of rampant nonstop glee, I can’t stand to play more than twice a week, if that, & only for an hour or two @ a time (unless doing an instance w/ pals). Grinding solo is some bullshit.

EXCITE TRUCK MADE ME SPASTIC WOOOOOHOOOOO XXXXTREEEEME

Seriously, it’s pretty fun.

Raving Rabbids is like living a nightmare. It’s fun to watch someone else stress out over it though. “Gangsta” Rayman is black!

Elebits, as noted above, is awesome; ransacking a house looking for little parasites and zapping them with your ghostbuster gun is more fun than I could’ve predicted.

My guy’s score is at 2048 on tennis. I assumed it stopped at 2000, but that’s not the case; you just keep going over the top of the chart. The game doesn’t get harder though; you just keep playing one 1900 player and one 2000 player. Twitch reflexes and intuitive controls have me at a point where I’m consistently beating the computer in straight sets. When do I get to play real people online; that’s the million dollar question?

Anybody know anything about realtime one-on-one wifi games for the wii? C’mon, they can do it with the DS; what’s the hold up?

I got stuck at something really early in Raving Rabbids, got completely fed up, and haven’t played it since.

Excite Truck is pretty fun.

We just got a Wii in the house and now I’ve crippled myself playing bowling... today I am walking with a stick, hurrah

The Rayman game is amazing, just for how bizarre it is

forks: the first one will be pokemon, but that requires friend codes. i am assuming a whole bunch will be out after that.

Excitetruck, from what little i’ve played of it, strikes me as a quintessential “Dudes, check this out!” title, to be demonstrated to a group of folks as drunk as possible.

And this is a bad thing because?

Anything that gets my friends to understand why I enjoy spending a couple of hours a weekend geeking out is fine by me!

Is Red Steel as bad/mediocre/etc as they say?

i just got a heck of a lot of amiga games for my xbox. played kick off already, it’s actually still great fun.

OH MAN AMIGA. Play... what was it called. Sword of Twilight? Also: Rodland. Also: Pandora (I had it in a 4-pack with an Arkanoid clone if that help). Also: Warlords.

There was also a turn-based strategy with Marines in it called Breach 2, I think. And also, Star Command was great. I think you needed the manual for both, though...

2.5 hours on Grid Wars last night, finishing at about 1am (why?). was determined to keep playing until i got on the highscore table but that’s increasingly difficult. didn’t manage it (currently need 600,000 plus on hard)

cosign on the new Zelda being totally fucking awesome. it’s as cinematic as any game I’ve ever played or seen. The twilight bits are totally cosmic/haunting, plus so far all the boss monsters are completely terrifying, which makes up for their total piece-of-cake nature combat-wise. Love the SM64 Bowser flashback with the Death Mountain miniboss.

things I hate so far, a list: motherfucking lava, portal monsters who won’t cooperate and keep wandering around out of B-button death range, portal monsters I have to fight in human form, most of the little kids from my village, Midna giving me useless/redundant advice in dungeons.

I know I’ve joined in with too many “Name great Amiga games” lists, normally when you mention the Amiga, I think, Ste. But one I always forget to mention is ‘Walker’. Which is still a great game.

As for Zelda, yeah, I hate the portal Monsters, but I’ve become a pretty big fan of riding round Hyrule Field as fast as Epona will go doing drive-bys (With my sword) on the baddies that wander about down there.

I still haven’t made as big a dent in Zelda as I feel I should have, just haven’t had a chance to dedicate a whole day to it like I really should. Maybe this weekend. maybe.

oh man ride-by slapping trolls upside the head is hilarious. I also like locking on with the boomerang whenever one of those bird fuckers comes in on my six and then letting them eat my dust while they float around stunned.

Same here—I’m only just catching my stride thirteen hours into the damn thing! (I do have to applaud the designers for building in a pretty brilliant degree of compartmentalization—as someone who rarely has the patience for gigantic sprawling games, it’s a huge boost for the game to be structured by goals which can be accomplished in an hour or so, like “find the tears” or “get into the castle” or whatever. Maybe this has been an element of Zelda forever and it’s just new to me since TP is the first Zelda I’ve ever owned and therefore had the time to obsess over; I ‘unno.)

I am still playing Circle of the Moon. I spent too long trying to get specific item drops from certain monsters.

Too long away from Animal Xing again. I felt ashamed to switch it on last night.

The Shrink guy (Shrunk?) is making me touch him!

yeah zelda still hasn’t grabbed me like i want it to, it hasn’t become compulsive yet (i played snes zelda recently and literally breathed that shit for a week) tho’ i’m only at the zora lake so i guess there’s still time. it seems a bit episodic at the moment. i can’t wait to properly explore the castle town.

red steel is atrocious. terrible graphics (made worse by the fact that the game relies on long range shooting, often far away enemies can only be detected by gun fire or when they hit you), unresponsive controls, it is neither realistic nor fun to simulate opening a door with a flick of the nunchuck, so much time spent fucking around trying to escape through doors while getting shot the fuck up when a simple button press would suffice, ditto sword fighting, it just doesn’t work. the music sounds like fucking propellerheads or some shit, like 10 minute tom rolls and played james bond melodies into atmospheric exhale drones/corny fake “j pop” drum n bass with insulting fake japanese vocals, terrible enemy ai and voice acting (“he’s gone..”, no i’m fucking not i’m shooting you in the head, dick). it’s not so good. i just can’t believe they fucked the controls up so bad, like who tests this shit?? how does it get through??

The Shrink guy (Shrunk?) is making me touch him!

Can you show us on the doll where he touched you?

God I miss San Andreas.

the wiimote makes it really difficult to smoke whilst playing

I got Guitar Hero 2. Rock!

also playing mario & luigi: superstar saga. too many tutorials, not enough fun yet.

like who tests this shit??

hahahahaha i think i know people who did.

Damn sandbox, since I have to come in ILE to get to my ILG substitute, I’ve actually started reading ILE/posting occasionally... I am out of my element and sad. Maybe I should be less ILG centric in general (only forum I ever go to).

You’re not missing much, honestly.

Finally beat Circle of the Moon. Took me long enough.

Now to get a used copy of Dawn of Sorrow...

ha ha, this cat has more wii than the rest of us

finally got Dawn of Sorrow. Had to drive out to the meth-fueled lands of Clackamas, to a nice kid who lived in his grandparents stinky house.

gutted i can’t play the pinball series games on my amiga emulator on xbox, need keyboard. Nothing a quick adaptor won’t fix mind.

I’m surprised by how much fun most of these games still are, usually with emulators i’ll play for a few seconds and then switch off but I was well into Robocod the other day. Alien Breed too was something I couldn’t stop playing last night.
