in case you didn’t know...
19.00 Clear Spot Freaky Trigger
FREAKY TRIGGER and the LOLLARDS OF POP
Nonsense (when all is said and done) is still nonsense. But the study of nonsense, that is science. Serious about the silly stuff, serious about the silly, the interweb’s one sane collective arrives on air to do what it does best: putting the “pie” back into saloon-bar piety, from the meaning of
twins in children’s literature to the best recipes for frying cheese. Or that other thing. We drop science so you can pick it back up again.

only 15 mins left of the show but there may be a recording available later if anyone would like to hear the voices of Mark S, Tracer Hand, Tim H and others talkin the talk
oh and Tanya Headon of course
Dammit. Somebody needs to post here more often about these.
Sinkah dropping the Iranian Ragga-Pop like only he can
who’s the dude with the american accent?
Tim H talkin’ ’bout Polonium 210!
who’s the dude with the american accent?
Tracer
i hope Carsmile (or someone) was able to record the whole show as i got held up and have only got last third
OMG tanya headon actually exists! i thought she was a private little joke amongst the senior FT’ers!
NOW YOU KNOW BETTER
lol beth ditto space-karaoke
i might have got the whole thing—will need to check back through tho.
also to convert to something smaller than THE SIZE OF THE WORLD: what kind of file-size should i be aiming for?
encode it 56 or 64kbps MONO
but won’t that sound horrible?
it shouldn’t sound significantly worse than the original stream. i just encoded what i recorded to 64kbps mono and it’s fine. i recorded the standard mp3 stream tho, not the 128kbps one nor the ogg or real streams.
for those as missed it:

(er um assuming that this is okay to post and all)
listenin to the start now. love how PUMPED Tracer sounds.
Hahaha god. Our greatest fear was mere competence but I think we missed that mark somewhat. There is NO WAY I am listening to the show again (I say as I download the above link).
hahaha I sound like ANDY DICK
ANDY DICK ready for NPR consumption. (I mean that in a very nice way.)
“We drop science so you can pick it up again.”
AGGGH I HATE NPR, MICHAEL
HOW DO I SHOT BRITISH ACCENT
Anyway, the panel performed admirably and our studio technician—PETE—who I did not thank on the show because I was too flustered—was a more than a “dab hand” at an unfamiliar mixing board, besides keeping us all on schedule and the other things than an editor does. Big hats off.
Serious about the silly stuff, serious about the silly
No lame reversals for FT! Totally excited to listen to this.
GEEZ LOUIZE, all’s I’m saying is you sound really professional ’n’ shit but not Clear Channelish — you keep the pace lively and you don’t fill the dead spaces with ums and uhs and urs.
Haha I know. I am just still mourning not being born as James Earl Jones. (Who actually had a severe speech impediment for years before overcoming it, so hmm.)
(now i have this irrational fear that wiretap will somehow have picked up me having a conversation while listening, despite fact that it clearly only records what’s playing on the computer)
(also it’s done that thing where it fucks up yr sound settings so safari is mute, argh)
you sound good, Tracer!
sounds fine to me cis, thanks. i can put it on ftspace now.
pop forecast. fair to constant. good.
excellent work people (and i’m not JUST saying that out of some sort of friendship bias)
that link didn’t seem to work—here it is again
steve isn’t that the same link? it works for me if you copy and paste the link; otherwise not.
duuuhhh i forgot about ft hotlinking block type thing sorry
oh and Tanya Headon of course
heh.
Better Tanya next time, please!
Can you elaborate, Andrew?
I think you might’ve misquoted me a bit Tim... I said Harold Wilson was probably the coolest prime minister of my lifetime, not necessarily the best. I demand a retraction!
I didn’t claim you (or I) named HW as the best! I said he was a candidate for best Prime Minister of my lifetime, and surely you aren’t about to deny that, eh?
