Is today Buy Nothing Day? Oh, honestly, why did they have it on Payday? I’ve already bought boots and a handbag. But I didn’t buy anything all week!

I guess it’s the 24th in North America, and the 25th in the UK.

It’s not a very sexy concept.

Not this Saturday! There’s a continental market in Oxford this Saturday, I was gonna` buy loads of chorizo and random French cheese! Boo!

If I abstained from shopping on Saturdays, I would starve the next week.

anyway, yes, Buy Nothing day. I just got paid, so that’s kind of knacked. So far today:

£20 petrol

£15 top-up for mobile phone

£1.99 chicken pasta thing for lunch

£11.95 box of wine (on special offer: South African red, very nice thus far)

also, I’m going out for dinner.

I plan to buy some toothbrushes.

I spent 90p on a parking ticket, and that was all.

I nearly signed a new phone contract, but wouldn’t have had to pay anything for it

I may well manage to buy/spend nothing on Buy Nothing Day. The weather’s rotten and it seems like a good day to tackle the nursery. We forgot to leave a cheque for the milkman this morning and I paid my credit card online at five to midnight last night. Oystercard top-up can wait until tomorrow.

I bought an anvil case for my guitar.

Last night = £30 on dinner and a couple of bottles of wine in the pub. £6 on a taxi home (that’s over and above the £38.94 mentioned up there). Christ, that’s a total of £74.94 which isn’t exactly Buy Nothing, is it?

Though if it’s Saturday rather than Friday, then I’m OK because I have not left the house all day and haven’t spent any money. OK, we spent £15 on a Chinese takeaway, but the money for that came out of Neil’s pocket, so I’m not counting it as *my* spending.

I bought nothing on Buy Nothing Day. Pam went to Sainsbury’s and that came out of the joint account but I wasn’t there, so it doesn’t count.

That’s like my logic too. Good, isn’t it?

-Two (2) tickets for Richie Hawtin/Jeff Mills @ Avalon Hollywood, at $10.00 each

-$28.00 worth of drinks at Avalon (incl. tip)

I spent a lot of money, thus cancelling out some of you buy-nothingers.

for black friday i bought no new stuff, did not go to no malls, so i think i did a’ight.

i bought a used LP at a record shop i love here in portland, exiled — st john green, weirdo spoken word psych. sort of doors meets the red krayola maybe? am sure people on here know it. nice clean dj copy, $25, seems fair to me.

ohh also i bought coffee (a necessity), fruit and some fancy cheese (ros to be exact — i thinkit’s spanish and it’s a super delicious goat cheese, or maybe sheep).

I want that. (I am hungry.)

BTW, Mike, v. likely I’ll be up in Portland before going to EMP this year. But drop me a line about that.
