all the stuff piling up that you keep saying you’re gonna organize. companion thread to the “walls” one.

It’s more like 500 things.

yup.

to start with: receipts, CDs (remember those?), socks, circulars that keep showing up in the mail, scrunchies...

i made a trip to the coinstar today, so at least there are fewer pennies kicking up dust.

i sent six packages in the mail a couple of days ago. did good. i have a huge stack of other junk to wrap up & mail, though, like some stationery for an old lecturer, & a dictionary of modern quotations for a cousin. some records need putting back in their sleeves; a glass needs picking up (i will kick it over & spill it before that happens, but it is only water); there are various leads & kinda technologically-facilitative-materials that don’t have a place in the world and so are just sat next to some other records.

  • mic stand

  • battery from electric drill

  • a precarious stack of: blank CDs, masking tape, and an old Golden Syrup tin with 5 pence coins in it.

  • a set of 4 trolley castors, two with brakes

  • stack of gaffer tape, spool of bell wire, more gaffer tape, spool of some other wire

  • two guitars that I need to modify/fix

  • two guitar cases, only one of which contains a guitar

  • alu L bracket

  • side panels from an old PC

  • mirror

  • 2 more spools of wire

  • cardboard boxes (packed flat), leaning against a bookcase and totally obscuring all the books therein

  • bag of salt

  • big roll of bubble wrap

  • plank of wood plus random wood offcuts

  • cheapo ‘flight case’ full of LPs that needs to be donated to the local charity shop

  • alarm clock

  • about 2 inches of dust on the small area of carpet actually showing through

1. books for my weekly evening class, which spend the other 6 days a week on the floor getting progressively more buried by...

2. mail not quite junky enough to throw out immediately but not interesting/important enough to actually look at

3. sweaters worn once, waiting until I wear them again or decide they’ve been made too dirty by being on the floor and throw them onto the laundry pile (currently just another section of floor since my dirty laundry bag disappeared, presumably into another pile of unknown stuff on the floor)

4. bag of luggage from my last trip away (back 6 days ago, still not unpacked)

5. pair of mystery allen keys, not sure what they fit

I am not the tidiest of people

1: A black/white/tan hound dog named Munchie, sound asleep. (The other three are sleeping on the bed.)

2: Several space heaters left over from the cold snap of the last few evenings.

3: Dirt, because I’m too pathetic to clean regularly.

4: Boards covering holes in the floor of the rotting mobile home I’m holed up in for the foreseeable future.

5: Lots and lots of boxes.
