hi 5

:)

Am unhappy w giant bottle of conditioner because it smells like vanilla sugar cookies, thought: “Maybe I’d like it more if I added an essential oil, like lavender? No, because then it would just smell like LAVENDER SUGAR COOKIES, which is probably Lechera’s thing, but not mine.” So happy holidays and lavender sugar cookies.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm that sounds so good!!

laurel tell me something you are happy about

how is your bathroom renovation?

It’s happening, slowly, but it’s not a good topic for this thread. When it’s done it will be, though!

lavender sugar cookies

Would eat!!! Sugar cookies are among my fave and I like flower flavors.

i have a vanilla coke w/ me atm & this is p good imo

I have the King Arthur Flour Whole Wheat Cookbook and I’ve been making Honey-Oatmeal bread from it for a while. Last night I rolled out the (once risen) dough and slathered on an egg-white mixed with pecans, butter, cinnamon, and muscovado sugar, and rolled it up and rose it into a loaf, then baked it. Today it is ... amazing. The smell, the look, the taste.

about like this:

remy

that sounds totally

i made cinnamon bread a few times and it is always such a delicious experience. i like to make it with rich egg bread.

mmm, i haven’t thought of making, like raisin-y challah

amaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing

you will see

also try using butter with the sugar/raisins/cinnamon

if you’re going all the way, might as well go all the way

Just heard from my mom, that my dad is doing 1000x better today, up out of bed, made the long march to the nurse’s station at the end of the hallway, energy coming back by the hour.

yay!

awesome news

Toughest old man I have ever, ever, ever known. That pig valve in his heart will probably blow out before cancer ever takes him down.

:D

the weird feeling of school around exam time like its intense but also theres no regular classes so theres that holiday feeling of the normal routine having being suspended, a greater sense of both possibility and comradery

^^^ totally. enjoying the hell out of that tbh.

i am so happy about

~ my xmas tree. seriously, this thing brings me joy on a daily basis. i feel like i’m getting the opportunity to make up for all the shitty xmases i had.

~ the huge pile of presents FOR ME under the tree. i will happily cop to being totally greedy and materialistic.

~ my bathroom: i wanted this crazy octopus shower curtain for a really long time (i know, lame) so ytth bought it for me, BUT the real happy part is that he understood without any hinting that i also NEEDED the matching floor mat and hand towel. and then he bought the perfect little basket for misc items, so now my bathroom looks amazing (sorry, laurel!)

~ my xmas tree. seriously, this thing brings me joy on a daily basis.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

There are presents under the tree already?! Damn. I couldn’t handle that. I’m like a five year old when it comes to gifts. I need to open immediately.

i love xmas. i told ytth the other day that if we were rich we’d have the most gaudy-looking house in the neighbourhood and it would be AWESOME

xp well they’re not really xmas presents: we both have our b’days this month, so we go overboard on b’day presents for each other and don’t bother with xmas. but i made him wrap them in paper that co-ordinated with our tree (lol) and put them there for full effect.

CONFESSION: i also listened to terrible cheesy xmas songs while i decorated the tree.

whatever gets you through the day/night

which is to say

stop apologizing for the things that make you happy :)

<3 octopus bathroom

me too!

my bf and i put up the tree yesterday. we drank egg nog lates and listened to charlie brown xmas and dolly parton’s xmas album while we put it up. it made me v happy

awwwwww

a dolly parton xmas album would surely only add to my current happiness

i got a new phone which makes me happy because it’s the first big fun purchase i’ve made for myself in a couple of years. also my daughter learning new words every day and seeing her figure out how to express things which is really crazy and amazing.

all i see are his gleaming teeth when i look at that cover

n/a your daughter’s alphabet video was top notch

thanks!

-feel like i’ve gotten through/am successfully handling a tough time with my man.

-don’t care for christmas, especially the family part. but i’m feeling chill about spending an evening at home this year. i might even ask l if he wants to come along. on the other hand, if ultimately i don’t wanna do it, i feel chill about saying no.

-gonna be saying “f u christmas” by spending it in moab. wintertime desert air. no wreaths in sight!

x-post The WDYLL pic you just posted is making me happy even tho I saw it yesterday on FB. So cute.

Seeing my three month old son smile at me in recognition is pretty much trumping every other thing that could possibly be making me happy right now. Its awesome.

way to make me look bad

“i’m happy about my new phone! and i guess my daughter”

From what I hear though the 3–4 month stage is p great because they stop being such little shits and start interacting/recognizing you more.

Haha n/a not intentional in the least, I just saw this thread and was looking at a picture of him. I can’t wait for when he starts to talk.

Baby stuff was cute and fun and precious and all, but none of it tops the first actual conversation I had with my daughter.

Oh I’m sure there’s a lot better to come, but its pretty awesome when you realize they are smiling because they see you and not because of anything else.

My birthday!

The dentist loves my teeth, as usual.

Going to the city on Saturday to Christmas shop and eat a stupid amount of ice cream with a good friend.

4 yo daughter asking me if the Clash are punk rock

xxpost—Yeah, that’s very cool. Kinda jealous of you guys with the wee babies these days, except for the diapers part.

shakey did you tell her they’re the only band that matters?

good answer, good answer

my daughter’s in the “why” phase so she quickly moved on to more important questions like “why is he smashing his guitar” and “why aren’t we listening to the ramones”

The 60th and 90th birthdays of my mom and grandma! Very excited!

planning a two week motorhome ROAD TRIP in poland my three bros

sparkle fingers @ this

I will be done with the Year In Film in a week

will cop to some cog dissonance at the concept of road tripping in europe tho if only cuz my chauvinist american attitude requires road trips to involve distances that would span poland before lunch

suddenly occurs to me to ask, do you recuperate by spending Januarys slobbing out in front of the tube watching Ritz Brothers or Andy Hardy marathons or somesuch? xpost

being plotting next year in film

gbx it’s for the euro championships so yeah it’s just gonna be between games- 300kms max small stuff

WHOA

-my brother-in-law gave us his old mattress before he left for St. Petersburg, which means no more sleeping on the floor

-my brother-in-law is in St. Petersburg, far away from us

-the variety bag of pears I got at Wal-Mart

just ordered a pizza

-My wife intercepted a Signature Only FedEx package, obviating the need for me to drive 30 miles and back in the rain at night to pick it up at the FedEx terminal near Baltimore.

-The FedEx package contained a new guitar.

-My one-year old daughter thinks it’s hers (I mean, she monopolizes any guitar she can get her hands on, but she’s definitely excited about the new one).

-Later on tonight, I plan on using jjjusten’s guitar set-up tips (c&p’d from I Make Music the day before ilx went down) to help fix my son’s guitar.

I am so happy about new guitar day 2011. : )

-running a lot and not getting injured

-listening to opera for the first time in my life and getting a real buzz from it

-hanging out with somebody pretty great who really gets me (prob filed under the opposite of this thread too, all considered)

-having a bit more cash with new job

-loving clothes more than ever and feeling v good with style and stuff.

-christmas soon

-my arkham city silent takedowns are improving and yesterday i sprayed a corpse with explosive gel then detonated it when goons came to investigate their fallen comrade. batman, a complex and sometimes unsavoury “hero”.

-reading a lot

-blogging again and not feeling obliged to compromise

-some nice trips planned for 2012...

that’s a lot of things, look at them all there.

what is your blog

i have a great cough, it is not bugging me at all but it is super satisfying & rattly, i sound like a grizzly bear

SLURPEE STATUS HOMIES

I won $5 on a scratch ticket last week. I bought a burrito with the proceeds....and I ate it!

2011 is almost over hooray

What is it with three year old girls and The Ramones? Just seems to click, somehow.

They’re pretty simple, I guess.

My 4 yr old daughter like Gary Numan, which I find vaguely unsettling. Out of all of the stuff I play in the car, it’s Gary she likes?

i liked gary numan when i was 4 — it was the year “cars” came out and it was always on the radio...in the car

it sounded totally crazy!

I thought that my little girl liked everything musical. She’ll sway back-and-forth to television commercial jingles. Last night I had on a general Christmas music Pandora station. She was going fine with Perry Como and Ella and Bing Crosby and all that, but then Carol of the Bells came on and she turned to me and just started howling in wide-eyed terror.

it’s friday and i just got a bottle of wine for a present

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah

evie’s really into “mickey” by toni basil right now, mainly because of the clapping.
