if they amnesty haywood (which they will) and find a taker for marion, they’re like 2m away from being able to offer both max free agent deals.

they’d have dirk, dominique jones and beaubois under contract for a total of about 24.5m. I think you have to add in 9 or 10 minimum cap holds at 500k so that’s about 29m. that leaves them about 29m under the cap. get rid of jones and beaubois (which should be easy) and you’re just about there.

Pretty conspicuous to me that they’ve worked so hard to clear out space for two max slots and not one.

cuban’s made no attempt to hide his plans, IIRC. i just didn’t think it was possible under the new system, but i’m not sure.
