Suddenly I can’t log in. :( Every time I get “THE CONNECTION WAS RESET. The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.”

Still no worky on my cell phone (old ILX and the sandbox always worked, it’s a Nokia 6230i, connecting with GPRS/WAP).

I fill in my email address & password on the login page, then it says something like: “the information you provided is being diverted to another server. continue? y/n”—Yes—“invalid web address”—reload: page not found.

Servlets & other fancy modern stuff = dud.

(But I’ll have regular internet at home soon and I needed a reason to get rid of this expensive gprs subscription, so yeah)

I can’t log in from the home PC, get“Server timeout clickback twice and etc..”

Update: there are two problems at work. One is the session thing referred to above, the other is to do with how your browser saves the “cookie” that keeps your session number. Tomcat tells your browser not to remember this cookie, so if you quit the browser — on the PC this just means closing the last window — you’ll be logged out. The trick for just now is to minimize your browser window, not close it.

One of the most common failed-to-insert messages comes from a referrer checker. You have to be coming from ilx.wh3rd.net, ilx.p3r.net or www.ilxor.com to post.

Ah ha, that was it. I can post, and now I don’t get a blank screen when I log in.

I usually enter through ilx.wh3rd.net but I have a lot of www.ilxor.com addresses in my browser history so I don’t know if I tried posting from one or the other

1) Desktop: Can read, can’t post/login

Ok, so me, David R., and AlexSF having ILX2 blocked at work is mostly because the 8080 port was too eyecatching, and so we should kiss ILX2 goodbye?

If you’re all using the same web-blocking proxy (there are a few, like Blackspider and websense), then yes, it would happen at the same time to everyone. If they’ve blocked all three URLs, you’re out of luck until we can set up an outside proxy (in the works)

I can actually login at work to this http://ilx.wh3rd.net/ILX/index.jsp address. All the other ones get blocked by Websense.

In other news, whey do I get this message when I try to post:

So I still can’t get in at work at all (just won’t load), and the rare moments I’m home and awake I’ve got the constant logging in problem. Sigh.

I feel bad for you, stet, having done all this work and then having this minority of people like me who are miserably unhappy. Kudos nonetheless for doing something.

Alex: You’re getting that message because we’re checking for referrers, and I suspect websense is fucking with them. Let me speak to Keith about that.

Mitya: I’m really not sure why you’re getting the logging-in problem. What browser are you using, and have you tried another? If your work problem is time-outs or plain blank pages, I know what that is, and have a longer-term solution in the works.

I got barred a few times too! I figured it was better than being banned. Once I re-opened the link everything was fine, for me.

I can’t think of a reason I would be, actually, barred.
