ever leave your mobile in your bag and have it ring someone by mistake, and they’re all “hello? hello?”?

yes and it’s always the same person who is embarrassingly someone I had a sort-of relaionship with back in 2004.

I should delete their no. really.

i’m in the habit of locking my keypad now, as the other week i managed to accidentally send 45 MMS messages to one bloke in the space of about 10 minutes.

i was flattered by the attention to be honest

Once i called Stevem on the telephone by mistake!!

I get calls from my sister’s bag sometimes. I like listening to her walk at a NYC clip down the street or give directions to a cab. The first time I was yelling “hello!?” into the phone until I realised what was happening. Now when it happens, I remain quiet so I can get a few more imagined NYC moments.

also, leaving a 10 minute message consisting of crunching noises on their voicemail

My then boyfriend once had an entire conversation with my arse. Apparently.

that’s what i’m talking about!

or was it yr elbow?

It’s more fun if you imagine the person who has mistakenly called you has been kidnapped and is trying to get help but is unable to dial properly. You then have to listen for clues to their whereabouts. I once successfully worked out that my wife’s brother was on a boat, from the tell tale water noises.

No, it was my arse, because my phone was stuck in my back pocket.

I think he secretly enjoyed it, actually.

and the funniest thing was Stevem answered the phone!!

I don’t tend to call friends when I leave it unlocked, I tend to call 00712***22+, or my personal favourite, 3222255555555555555555222222222690

oh my consistant ringing of *9#, they must be so sick of me

you only ever call me by mistake, 526 ;_;

the police phoned me in morrisons

I once successfully worked out that my wife’s brother was on a boat, from the tell tale water noises.

He could have been in the bath! (or the toilet)

There were several male voices. The water was making “lapping against the side of the boat” type noises. I knew his mate had a boat.

Someone just called my cell phone and, despite my message saying very clearly “Hi, this is Laurel, leave a message” proceeded to rattle at me in what I think is Russian for almost two minutes! Who speaks Russian? I want to find out what this says.

scotstvo speaks Russian, not sure if he’s around the sandbox.

This happened quite a lot until I locked the keypad. Now my daughter calls up people ALL THE FUCKING time (on the reg. phone which doesn’t have a keylock).

This used to happen to me all the time, to the point where I had to add an extra AAA entry to my phonebook with a nonexistent number to absorb the brunt of the unintentional phonecalls, like a sort of mistaken phone call buffer if you like. Then one day this just completely stopped happening, and I couldn’t for the life of me work out why, asking many of my friends for theories on why this might have happened. Then I remembered that I had replaced my phone with a new model that flipped shut when not in use. How silly I felt.

“several male voices”, “lapping noises” and “a friend who’s a sailor” do not preclude bath! (or toilet).

Seagulls & foghorn?

What about seagulls?

um what Stan said

(rtft)

Onimo never mentioned any seagulls!

You get loads of seagulls inland anyway, on council rubbish tips.

True, and he lives in a seaside town so he could easily have had a seagull on his window ledge while he was having his gay jacuzzi orgy. Maybe the boat thing was a luckier guess than I thought.

Maybe he lied about the boat.

Seagulls are known for being the voyeurs of the avian world. I think you’re ledge theory is correct.

I get ass called ALL THE TIME. I used to try to yell HELLOOOOOOOOO, but rarely has anyone ever heard me, and then I used to listen to see if I could tell what was going on, but eh, that gets old, so mostly now I just hang up.

Who are these lunatics who keep their phone in their back pocket? Doesn’t it break when you sit down / make your bum look an odd shape when you stand?

aldo_cowpat texted Happy New Year to me 19 times this year. I like to think it’s because he really wanted my New Year to be happy, but I suspect it’s because my name is first alphabetically in his address book.

(I get tons of crappy unwanted phonecalls as a result of my parents failing to foresee the inconvenience of naming your child something from the start of the alphabet. More of my friends to befriend people called Aaron or Abigail or something please)

ha ha—me too! i am first on many people’s phone lists. I like it when people call from their cars (by accident) and I can hear them tunelessly warbling along to the radio.

I’ve been to many parties that I haven’t been to, due to ass calling.
