I really want to see “Joe,” a movie from the early 70s starring the dad from Everybody Loves Raymond. A construction worker and a businessman team up to kill hippies! There’s a twist ending that was unfortunately revealed in one of the Amazon.com reviews!
Are there any other good “culture war” movies from this era (or later, I guess)? I’ve seen all the “Dirty Harry” movies, “Death Wish,” and “Last House on the Left,” but they’re only secondarily about hippies/meatheads run amok. I need more meat!

if you ever get the chance exploitation flick “The Helter Skelter Murders” is a great mix of hippy beach concert jam and eerie b/w “recreations” of the Tate murders. Made before the trial, even.
I saw a nice “evil hippies” episode of Ironside once. Tons of 70s cop shows must’ve done this, right?

everyone should see the Robert Hendrickson documentary entitled *Manson*. So fuckin’ punk rock. It will make you want to join a cult tomorrow! the interview footage of the girlz is unbelievable. paul watkins video/music interludes. ranch footage. i love it and i’m not even a charlie fanatic or nothin’. i forget when it was made. i bought a cheapo copy on dvd.

Blue Sunshine is possibly one of my favorite movies ever. Beautiful shots, awesome paranoia, crazy drugs and BALDIES! The soundtrack is also fucking awesome— awesome scary, sometimes atonal bells and whatnot...and cheesy late 70s lounge music.

I used to see “Over the Edge” all the time on HBO when I was a kid. Bunch of bored suburban kids doing dumb shit, parents getting, mad, etc. I haven’t seen it in years but I’ll always remember the kid putting on his giant 70’s headphones and rocking out to Cheap Trick to drown out his parents.
