So the title of the thread doesn’t follow you as you scroll.
I like this as it means I don’t need to scroll back up a thread to get to a menu.

No... One of the AI attacks was basically blasting the server with requests for entire threads, I suppose for obvious reasons, they want all the data, and one of the key ways in which you kill a service (which it did) is for things to make requests that take a long time to fulfil, which is what the whole thread thing is... Pagination isn’t ideal, although it is required for search engine optimisation (in other words, for Google etc. to index the site properly), but I would like to improve that in time and make it more seamless, e.g. I could potentially retrieve more messages just as you scroll, giving the impression that every thread is fully loaded, just except that it is not, from the point of view of protecting the service.
It’s not really that I need to see all the messages in a thread displayed at the same time. Just that I need a sense of where I looking in a long thread. I don’t really get that from clicking on ‘Next page’ and ‘Previous page’. Maybe if there was some kind of counter, like ‘Next page—messages 170 to 210’?
I have mixed feelings about the sticky title/menu thing. I think for me the title/board is too big when it follows me about—similarly to wanting wide view/hiding poll charts, I prefer to have a lot of normal-sized text in view and not a lot of white space/images/huge text. However, I love having the header bar menu sticky, it’s a nice size and not intrusive and yes, saves time scrolling. I’ve decided to use the sandbox with stickies on rather than off for the moment, but I might turn it off again!
emil.y, thank you for starting this thread. I had already enabled a bunch of these, but you brought the ability to disable the sticky title/menus to my attention. I think I am with you: I don’t want the thread title to be sticky (too big), but I would like the one line menu to be sticky. That feels like the sweet spot.
Yeah, I think you’re right. I mean... It’s not trivially easy to do, even if it seems like it should be, as a bunch of stuff references the current structure from styling to button clicks and so on...
...But taking that aside, it’s now not obvious to me why I did it that way. Leave it with me to think about it for a bit in case there was some good reason I’ve just forgotten about.
Similarly, I’ll have a think. Not obvious why I couldn’t do something to that effect.

I was using Nightingale for the poll results view but I think I now prefer the bar chart view.
