it had been a fine cocktail party, but it was getting late and the small group of guests were preparing to leave. jaq and mr. jaq were nearly out the door, coats on, parcels in hand.

“WAIT!” shouted lxy, grabbing jaq’s arm. “TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF!”

jaq exclaimed, “oh my god i can’t believe we almost forgot!” she set her bags down and began slipping off her shoes. the others, with wondering looks, began also to comply. jaq said laughingly, “no, no, just me.”

lxy ran for the pencil, then led jaq to the measuring door.

kyle wondered aloud with confusion in his voice, “WHAT is going ON?!”

“it’s research,” lxy replied, raising her pencil. so intent was she on the business of measuring jaq’s height that no further explanation was provided to the puzzled group now assembled around them. having advised jaq on the no backcomb policy, lxy solemnly made the mark to record jaq’s place on the scale.

task complete, lxy promised that the results would be photographed and posted to the research site.

those results are herein being made available to study participants and interested parties. comments and observations are welcomed, nay, encouraged.

What fun! I also referred to the measurement process as “the procedure”, which added to the general confusion. Mr. Jaq queried me later in the car: “was that just a girl thing?” I assured him most definitely it was not and since he didn’t play in the sandbox, he really didn’t need to know any more about it. And should just count himself among the lucky few to have witnessed the procedure.

I can never tell because to me most people seem tiny (and 5’10“ men like my dad get all huffy when I call them short), but I think Keith is nearer the tza line than the jergins one. I am probably right at the very top or over it.

I like that both tza and I listed that I am the taller, when it has been PROVED BY SCIENCE that I’m not!

i was just thinking about this girl i saw on a today show clip from sociologicalimages blog, the one who was on the picture that ralph lauren photoshopped to look like her head was bigger than her waist, who was 5’10“ (my height) and 120. she was fired because she couldn’t fit in the sample clothes. i would have to remove some of my organs and amputate a leg to weigh that little. she is what i don’t look like.
