i got 6 bottles of wine

soooooo drunk. i don’t really drink anymore, so one entire bottle of frangelico + several glasses of wine later, i feel cross-eyeed and regretful already

i’m stunned you could even type!

surprisingly, i feel pretty okay this morning! as you can imagine, that much drinking also required a serious amount of smoking, so my mouth feels like an ashtray—the last time i smoked that many cigs was with YOU!!

how do you drink frangelico? I thought it was to mix in coffee!

Out til 2 last night with coworkers = most drinks I’ve had In one night in a long time (4!) and wooh today is rough. Fortunate to have some down time before work thins but i feel guilty like I should be working out or hiking when all i want is to nap in anticipation of a very busy next 3 days.

i drink it straight, over ice with lots and lots of fresh lime juice

i got a bottle of rum and a bunch of mint and some seltzer water and some limes

we just got a bottle of rum and seltzer and limes too! and some ginger beer.

we’re making dark & stormies with my niece. i am lying on “the moon bed” on her third floor deck, with a breeze and a view of boston. it is wonderful.

oh yeah i also got ginger beer!

i got ginger beer (fancy stuff) yesterday—thank god i saved it for today, my stomach needed it.

i am never getting drunk again.

tonight I made a lxy drink and s said tell me how to make that and I did. then he said what do you call this? And I said why, it’s a lxy drink! He was a little confused.

I made a bourbon version and yeah a rickey has sugar and honestly I just don’t feel right calling it a Rickey bc it is a lxy drink!!!

I saw these guys play once in the 90’s to an audience of four, two of which were the other acts. it was a matinee show, god knows why. they abused a whole table full of broken toys, great stuff. I bought my copy of this LP from them at that show. This is probably the first time I’ve listened to it in at least ten years. It sings, aches and warbles with a bruised mechanical beauty.

one of my very favorite bands. the Mute label totally fucked up the CD reissues of these albums, every single one has brickwalled compression that exceeds any reasonable parameter. this is the last vinyl of theirs that I need to rip, their 1986 swan song. I love dissolution/breakup albums—Shoot Out The Lights, Recurring, Loaded, Ach Dieser Bart, etc. 2nd vocalist Guggi left before this was recorded, but there are live bootlegs that have the multi-vocal delivery so essential to this group. still a great album.

my dad, a chemist, used to order ‘martinis’ that were straight gin (with a twist!) and then apply a couple droplets of vermouth from a vial in his pocket

i thought that was pretty cool until i discovered that gin is fucking disgusting

can’t really understand the human toll of the UK’s industrial revolution until you account for the fact that all the sluggards and slatterns were pounding gin to escape it
