So unnecessary, but hey, whatever floats your boat.
i am not arguing about bacon with the bacon-free.
what do you think the cats would do if i brought home a pig as a pet?

Ha ha. Jenny.
I rollerskated to ‘New York Groove’ all the time as a kid.
I dated someone who didn’t drink (and was in AA), but it wasn’t a problem, especially because she still went to bars (and music shows in bars, etc.). I can’t seem to stop dating vegetarians, which makes ordering chateaubriand impossible.

pork chop sandwiches
The bacon is probably an integral ingredient in that recipe, so it’s not that, but I’m not sure what the point of the chicken stock is. I guess I just dislike the notion that vegetarian food is flavorless unless it’s gussied up with meat. I’m not saying don’t eat cheeseburgers, I’m just saying lentils are pretty great on their own.
Nueske’s thick-cut applewood-smoke bacon would convert anyone to the meat-eating cause.
I remember the Ace Frehley version from high school. meh.
You know what’s severely underrated? Plain nonfat yog.
^^^^ mix with garlic, salt, pepper, cucumbers, tahini. Jerusalem salad up in this piece!
Also good with this combination sans tahini as a cooling side dish with hot hot curries.
xpost otm
I used to think a container of yoplait was good for me, but then i read the ingredients. Now I have to file it under “guilty pleasure.”
Plain yogurt is gross. Gotta be vanilla.
Dan, John: what time are you guys thinking of getting to Galway tonight? I’m trying to figure out my schedule.
Have any of you eaten there?
N: Starts at 8, right? I may catch a ride over if I can find one, otherwise it’ll be the Fullerton bus. I’m shooting for between 7:30 and 8 I guess.
I’m not sure yet. Probably depends on how late I stay at work, which would determine if I go straight there or if I go home first and then drive.
I have eaten there, yes. I remember it being pretty good, though I can’t tell you what I had. It was a few years ago.
Do you guys need to be there any earlier to sign up?
I just consumed a blend of 6 live active cultures. BOO YAH!
Jordan, I wouldn’t eat plan yogurt plain, probably! But it’s SOOO GOOD and necessary for sauces and toppings and cooking purposes.
I had the hummus appetizer dealie when we ended up there last week (Galway). It was acceptable.
True, I buy it for making tzatziki sauce sometimes.
That pig named after me is awfully cute.
We watched an ep of Dirty Jobs last night during which the very handsome Mike Rowe worked on a pig farm. And a small pig farm that probably can call it’s methods humane and they still did mean things to baby pigs (clip their teeth off, cut off their tails) that made me have to hide in the bathroom until the segment was over.
I am the most conflicted meat eater I have ever met. FYI.
I think that chicken stock adds a lot of flavor to lentils, etc., and I tend to use a lot of it, but I think vegetable stock works just as well as a substitute. Maybe I’ll start using more vegetable stock. Best bet would be to make my own but what am I, made of spare time?
Plain yogurt w/ salt, pepper, etc. is AWESOME.
The burger at Galway was subpar.
I had a great burger last night. It involved avocado spread.
Mmm...
Guess what time it is?
It’s PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME
PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME...
What kind of jelly, Sarah?
I don’t think you’re ready for it, Eazy.

You know, I have decided I don’t like that dude. He’s just a little too smug. He’s handsome, yes, but he is very aware of that, and seems to always be smirking about it in a self-satisfied way. Contrast with the mythbusters guys, who are just huge geeks and really into their job. Way more fun.
I loved Deadliest Catch so much, and he was the narrator for that show... it’s hard to move on from such awesomeness.
never saw that. you have better associations than i. I just think of that dude who’s covered in shit and acting like he’s way above it.
Hi.
Hi!
Ok, I have an idea for spring. (I’m anxious for spring.) I think we should meet in the park and have an informal croquet tournament. We can find some wacky hills and set up a ridiculous croquet course.
XTREME CROQUET! I’ll bring the Mt. Dew.
We can find some wacky hills and ...
in chicago?
in lincoln park, silly.
Hi.
Apricot jam, yo!
I like Croquet. Do you have the rackets? Better yet, do you have THE BALLS?
of course, if we were really extreme, we would play ice croquet like these wackos:

I like Croquet. Do you have the rackets? Better yet, do you have THE BALLS?
Oh, I have the balls, alright.
I’ll have to buy croquet balls, though.
CONDO FOR SALE
My coworker is talking about selling her condo in the Loop for $190K. It’s right next to Sears on State Street. Right above H&M.
Humboldt park would be more fun and possibly less crowded.
Oh shoot... What was our bike gang called?
I think you’re on to something. We can make obstacles out of the trash.
I’m kinda of hung.
if i were you i’d get some mallets too, i don’t know how well rackets would stand up.
xpost- humboldt park is also good for a makeshift driving range.
Sarah I believe you are referring to BARN (Bicyclists Against Rollerblading Nazis).
Lincoln park would be better for bacci, though.
over.
Went out to Smith & Woll3nsky again last night for the Bottomless Glass of Wine. Met some Irish folks and sang The Star Spangled Banner, O Canada, Waltzing Matilda, Molly Malone, and God Save the Queen with them. It was...interesting.
One of the Irish people was a priest of the Holy Ghost order, and I told him that I didn’t know dick about his order, but the Jesuits were my favorite fucking priests around.
I woke up in the Loop.
At the condo I spoke of earlier.
xpost A yes. We took a strong and brave anti-rollerskating nazi stance.
but the Jesuits were my favorite fucking priests
too bad you didn’t grow up in the boston archdiocese.
Jesse, did you get it on in a downtown Catholic church? Or did you wake up on Lower Wacker Drive?
From earlier: there is no food around that bacon cannot make better. Bacon in lentils is not to be knocked. Although I guess you could also use smoked turkey necks.
I done told you Eric, I spent the night at my coworker’s place downtown.
Let me tell you something—traipsing out into the sunshiny world with a hangover is hard enough anywhere, but it’s especially unpleasant when you have to deal with the Loop first thing in the morning. Loud and people-y.
Jordan, if you haven’t seen, the bit that CPR did on your gig from last weekend is available to listen to/download at
http://www.chicagopublicradio.org/audio_library/848_rafeb07.asp
Just look for “Mardi Gras in Chicago”.
Last night a union guy was sat in my section and we talked unions and I told him about going to New Orleans, etc. I told him that in the wake of Katrina Bush repealed the Davis-Bacon act which says that workers who work on government-contracted jobs must be paid the prevailing wage for their area (NO=around $15/hour, I think). Do you know that he said that that was probably not a bad idea?!
This post would probably have been a better IM to Jenny.
Oh, thanks Dan!!

my worst hangover involved puking into the mississippi river at 11:45 a.m. in new orleans along the river walk amongst a throng of tourists. some southern belle/sorority type actually gasped and pointed at me while i was hurling. i put both hands on the railing, steadied myself, turned towards her and her friends and just said “YEAH!” then tried again to get back to my hotel.
HA!!! Awesome.
it kinda was, kinda wasn’t. at the time it was only like the second time i’d ever puked from drinking. we’d started in massachusetts about 31 hours before and went straight through, it was when my body was no longer able to tolerate the abuse i put it through when i was in my early 20s.
Why does my weather toolbar say SEVERE WEATHER ALERT?
xpost- the awesome part is the southern belle. But what do I know about awesome.
Have any of you gone up to a Catholic today and gone, “Oh, you’ve got something on your forehead—”? I do or almost do that every Ash Wednesday. Except today since I’m at home.
i just walked past a striking vision of a med student and she had ashes on her head but it wasn’t her forehead i was thinking about.
I’ll be here until nu-lx looks/works decent.
How long did it take you to get your password email?
won’t let me log in, won’t send me a password. it’s not done baking.
Waht the fuck. We can’t leave kevin behind!
My password took a while, guys. Like mabye 15 minutes, and that was before the rush. Give it a bit?
It took me 0 seconds to get a password.
OK. It looks ugly over there though.
so we all have new passwords?
i disabled css (which totally fucked with the article on the red sox spring training i was reading) and still couldn’t make it go. c’est la vie.
I got mine in a couple minutes.
I’m staying where you guys are for now.
It’s ugly, but I always love the cries of “OMG I CAN’T READ FONT!!!!!” Yes you can, don’t be a jerk. It may not look like what you’re used to or what you want it to but you can still read it.
I vote we just camp out over here for the time being.
Yeah, you have to re-register and use a real email address for it, because it will email you the password. And then you can change it in preferences later.
never mind. i r dum.
2x
I think those people were complaining about the security thing where you have to copy what’s in the box to get your password. Which was kind of hard to read.
Uh, that was to Nick’s post, not to Kenan being dum.
I registered with a real email because I am SMRT. No password yet though.
it look fine. better, actually. the line spacing is better. much easier to read; I don’t have to reset my default font to get away from tiny times new roman.
Dude. Fuck me in the goat ass. I have to work tonight. Dung.
I don’t know, it looks very early ’90s to me. And I can’t change the font size with ctrl + scroll.
Whoah, I think they already changed the font since the first time I looked at it.
they did. it’s better but still odd.
Try Ctrl and “-” or “+” to change the font size. Worked for me.
Hmmm, not working for me.
That’s a browser command, it will change the text size on every web page you visit.
Dude, stop fucking my goat ass, I got my shift covered and am going to an informational session at DePaul University CHICAGO’gewjkwaeg;lljkasfd;lkj.
i think i will stay here a while longer
How are we sposed to intuit what to type here?
User Name (email address):
BOTH? NEITHER? w/ parens??
I’m not ready for that jelly.
Username=email address is what I’m getting out of that.
I like this Sandbox ILX better. It looks exactly like Ye Olde ILX, so the only advantage to the new one, as I can see it, is the archives. Which really aren’t all that important on a day-to-day basis.
archives and “improved security” (and eventual bandwidth)
But I agree, I like the sandbox better.
I don’t care about security. The new ILX hurts my eyes.
As I said on the I Love X thread: New board has un-American style of showing dates!
That was a dumb way of saying that.
