Usually an argument that plaintiff’s lawsuits are ruining the medical profession
Oh, I know that argument. It makes me want to kill. It makes me want to start the bloodbath at the corporate offices of insurance companies.

That’s a pretty good explanation of what I’m talking about w/r/t the McDonald’s coffee thing.
My point is that I hate that. My thing I hate. Let me show you it.
xp—yeah! I mean, srsly, the US legal system has some problems. Some big, fat, harmful-to-society problems that are very critique-worthy. But the fact that individuals are able to sue large companies for injuries and sometimes get judgments in their favor is not one of those problems. Unless you hate people and love giant corporations, which I understand some people do.
The Hot Doug’s foie gras story made the Wii News Channel.
OMG last night we watched TROLL 2 and it is the most awesomely, ridiculously ATROCIOUS movie I have ever seen. I can’t even begin to tell you how great it was.

That’s a picture of me with my new haircut, btw, for those of you with images turned off.
We bought wedding rings yesterday. Sarah’s is tasteful, mine is crazy. I think it will give me superpowers. Then we went to Intelligentsia and I had a giant cup of coffee on an empty stomach so then when we had band practice I got all light-headed and woozy. Then we went to Earwax and had a giant linner.
What a weird night. On my way home from the fundraiser we played, my stomach started to hurt. By the time I got home, I was feeling really horrible: the pain had increased, I had the chills, and I was kind of dizzy, too. It was hard to sleep at first, but eventually I made it through the night, and now I’m more or less fine. What the hell. I had a Tofurkey sandwich, some tortilla chips, and an apple at about 6 PM, then a gin and tonic and three beers at Nick’s Uptown.
LOL at Amanda
Is Trolls 2 something you would have needed to see Trolls to really understand?
I lived my dream last night of taking two advil PM and sleeping for 11 hours.
This was a fucking epic weekend, guys. It was great to see y’all, I wish I could have hung out more (and in a place where I could talk without shouting/coughing).
We accidentally recorded a live album at the GM! Rather, the bandleaders decided to record both shows (hence that mic by your booth that I didn’t notice) but didn’t tell anyone in the band so that we wouldn’t be nervous and play timidly.
I got made on Saturday (mob style but not Pesci style). Long story but I was awarded my embroidered Digd0wn letter jacket for my years of service.
And I met a girl???
OH YEAH I WENT TO HOT DOUG’S. It was everything I hoped it could be (no foie gras specials that day though).
Jordan, just so you know, the only sound you’re going to get off that mic is me talking about Pockets.
Is Trolls 2 something you would have needed to see Trolls to really understand?
No way. Not under any circumstances. My fervor for Troll 2 is so great that I would go so far as to suggest a group screening. It happens that we own the VHS. It was purchased from the video store across the street when they sold off their VHS collection.
Point 1: the evil people in the movie, the ‘bad guys’ are the ones who only eat plants. They are the trolls. Again: the trolls are vegetarians.
Point 2: Contains the worst acting I have seen outside of a middle school auditorium.
Point 3: Not relevant to Troll 2, but I just discovered that Troll (1) had a character named Harry Potter who was played by Noah Hathaway, known to millions of little girls as ATREYU.
That last part may be common knowledge among some crowd somewhere, but I am not part of that crowd and therefore I was amused.
WHY WHY WHY does my school not get tomorrow off? Do all of you have tomorrow off? President’s Day. I’m so sure.
I haven’t been to Hot Dougs... 2003!!!!
since
The Replacements aren’t bad.
How long has it been since you had a steamin’ bowl of Wolf brand chili?
Well, that’s too long.
The Replacements aren’t bad.
No. But neither are they to be worshiped.
Unless you’re me and you’re 14 and your best friend is forcing you to listen to the Little Mermaid soundtrack and you’re looking for something that speaks to you more strongly than “Under the Sea.” Then worship is not only acceptable, it is the only option.
I know that “Don’t Tell a Soul” is not a great album, but I remember putting my newly bought cassette into Shannon’s (the best friend) tape player in her sister’s old room, which was empty, and flipping to side 2 and hearing YEEEEEEEEEEEEEOW and “Anywhere is Better than Here” and really feelin’ it. You can’t argue with that. Sorry. She was scared of it. I loved it. She and I broke up later that year for obvious reasons.
Well, that’s about all I have to post for the week, ladies and germs. Now I am going to eat (a portion of) the chili that has been simmering in the crock pot all day.
Tootles.
Jordan, just so you know, the only sound you’re going to get off that mic is me talking about Pockets.
roflz!
I’m ready to screen Troll 2.
I am sorry that yet again, I managed to avoid Jordan for an entire visit.
I knew a girl in college who owned three CDs and one of them was the Little Mermaid soundtrack and another was whatever Bette Middler atrocity had “God is watching us... FROM A DISTANCE!”
Amanda, I love Troll 2! It’s amazing. The popcorn sex scene?!
I just found out my sister’s boyfriend proposed, and she said yes. It’s kind of weird, but also not. Hmmmm.
Congrats to sister! Mawwiage!
I just picked up the movie “Brick” at Blockbuter for ten bucks. I LOOOve this movie.

Courtney and her sister and I were there when the GM guy was setting this up. We warned him that there might be some obnoxious commentary on the tracks. Whether acting on our statement or not, I don’t know, but he added a gooseneck to the stand a few minutes later.
Oh. I wanted to heap praise on Jenny for a sec. She and Jeff caught a southbound cab tonight as I waited for a northbound bus. I decided to wait only about 5 minutes before taking a cab. I was leaving the 7–11 after breaking my $20 for cab fare when I got her text saying “Yr bus is coming,” a text that saved me $6 or so.
Jenny, this is for you!

“Dude, I hope you don’t mind that I crashed on your couch and brewed up some of your coffee.”
Jenny, this is for you too!
So what’s the effing secret to posting images on here already?
use <img src=“http://http://www.nba.com/media/act_andrei_kirilenko.jpg”>
Shit. That first bit should be a less-than symbol...
the only sound you’re going to get off that mic is me talking about Pockets.
Haha. I seriously love that the most famous (“famous”) guy in the band is known in Chicago solely for having too much stuff in his pockets.
I’m at work really early so that I can leave early to play a dinner gig in Milwaukee. However, no one else is here to see me being here, so they’ll just think I’m leaving early slacker-style.
Ah! The popcorn scene. Also noteworthy: when the kid pees on the troll-tainted food so his family won’t eat it. And the forest lady with the fake, painted-on freckles. Oh, the fun literally never stops with Troll 2.
I am so ready to stop wearing boots. I hear it’s going to be 47 (and rainy) on Saturday.
Snow boots, that is. Fashion boots can stick around a little longer.
I posted my image properly, but it still didnt work.
Let’s have a Troll 2 party.
So tell us about this girl you met.
Oh, there’s not much to tell. We hit it off at the club, and if I had stayed something might have happened. Instead I chose to leave when the rest of my band was leaving to get food, and she gave me her number and told me to call her in a little while. I did, no answer, and I figured that was that. Then when I driving back to Madison I was surprised to get a text from her asking if I was still in town.
Oh she’s an architecture student, and she was sitting with six other girls who were not only architecture students but also French.
This is not the first time I’ve chosen the company of dudes and fried foods over a potentially awkward one night stand situation. Does this mean I’m gay?
Dudes and fried foods are some of MY favorite things!
Dudez and Foodz
Broz and Ho-Hos over hoez.
Fries with the guys, shrimps with the pimps. Cheez up, hoez down.
Mudbugs over bearded clams.
chicken over chicks
I don’t know what’s going on here, but it seems to work

What have I awakened to?
I don’t know what’s going on here, but it seems to work
EXCEPT FOR THE KETCHUP PART GROOOOSSSSSSS
dan’s getting into a snit. look out.
too obvious. not biting.
:)

This reads like the executive summary of a three-verse rap song.
lol
kevin, you got me in trouble on ilm. Springsteen *did* write “Blinded By The Light”.
LOL I wondered if that would bite anyone in the ass
I even went so far as to say something like, “It fits so well on the album, you’d never know he didn’t write it!” Egg. Face. All over.
I had such a fabulous weekend. Jordan, I love your band.
Hi, guys.
What is “Blinded by the Light”?
Made famous by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band. Also, one line sounds like “wrapped up in a douche” or something similar.
xpost Apparently it’s a Bruce Springsteen original, not, as I had assumed, a song by Manfred Man’s Earth Band.
Manfred Mann of “Do Wah Diddy” fame?
Thanks Sarah!
xpost The same, and “Cock-A-Hoop”, apparently.
I apparently don’t know anything about popular music.
I think you would recognize it if you heard it, John.
I apparently don’t know anything about popular music.
That’s just false. I had totally forgotten about “Do Wah Diddy”.
Doesn’t look familiar, but I kind of love those lyrics.
Yeah, Kenan, but “Earth Band”??
I’m trying to remember one of the tunes we played on Friday night. It’s an oldie/r&b tune, with a backbeat, and it wasn’t ‘My Girl’ (although we played that too). We hadn’t played the tune in years and I don’t really know the original. Does anyone know what I’m talking about?
I felt dumb on Friday when I thought that “Just the Two of Us” was a Will Smith original.
I’m listening to this “Earth Band” version of “Blinded by the Light” and it sounds only vaguely familiar.
Will Smith did ‘Just the Two of Us’? I don’t even remember that.
He sang it with his wee son.
I felt dumb on Friday when I thought that “Just the Two of Us” was a Will Smith original.
LOL, not because you felt dumb, but just because this is a very jaymc thing to say and I like it.
Well, I was grooving to it, and Kenan said “Wait, what is this?” and I said “‘Just the Two of Us’! The Will Smith song!” And Kenan said, “You mean Grover Washington Jr. and Bill Withers.” And I said, “Well, yeah,” even though that was totally news to me.
I never knew that was Bill Withers with Grover W.
I love me some Bill Withers.
Yeah I couldn’t have named who did the tune either, just knew it was a classic.
Me either.
Also, a wedding staple. Nick and Sarah, take note.
Totally. You guys should check out the original recording, it’s badass.
I think my iPod has finally passed away. It lasted a good, I don’t know, 3 years at least.

I have a crush of shame on this record. The cover reveals exactly what you will find inside.
Bobby Caldwell’s “What You Won’t Do For Love” sounds very similar and is one of the best songs ever. But it’s a little more suffering and a little less babymaking.
I love how all those records sound, all that warm bass and rhodes and great-sounding drums. I heard that BC played most of the instruments on his record too?
(the band uses WYWDFL as a background a lot btw)
I know, I was shocked when I first found out that he’s white!

Right, and until a couple months ago, I assumed that this was a Go West original.

OTM! In fact, one of my childhood memories of the GWJr record is its being used in a TV commercial for a local stereo shop, with slow pans across lcd meters and unnecessary knobs and faux-mahogany speakers. Mmmm. Smooth.
I worked with a woman who didn’t know that Rick Astley was white until she saw him in concert (she was a radio and not an MTV/VH-1 person). She’s the same one who gave me a Toni Braxton CD (the one with ‘Unchain My Heart’) because she ordered it and then couldn’t wait to have it so went out and bought another copy.
Who is GoWest?
Hey I just posted a record on the blog that I was sending to a friend. I’ve mentioned it here before, but figured some of you all might be interested... it’s that 120 Days album.
Also, since when do you have to enter a Google password when signing into blogger? I hope I didn’t reset the blog login/pwd...
I love Bill Withers. Looooooove.
Deniece Williams’ first record falls squarely into this sound too, I love it.

Did you just time-travel from December?
Who is GoWest?
Smooth-jazz staple of the late 80s/early 90s. Most famous for “King of Wishful Thinking,” from the Pretty Woman soundtrack, which went top 10 in 1990.
