Phil Jones is good to watch at least. Check him out sometime.

i saw him try to break bale’s ankle the first three mins of our season iirc

Nah, tbf utd are playing a little easier on the eye this season, tho i’d quite like to see how much better they’d be with a self-contained midfield pairing.

Course, most utd fans i know feel the same

I can see Blackburn staying up. They keep scoring, which is something (although so did Blackpool RIP), three more league goals than Liverpool in 6th.

I agree with that, but it’ll have to be with Kean at the helm otherwise what’s the point? Wigan are playing well enough in fits too and might get better. It’s looking bad for Wolves if either of those improve significantly.

Villa are the absolute worst but are somehow 10th.

Was motd2 on last night? I was wanting to check out the Villa thrillfest this morning but my recorder didn’t pick it up.

I’ve only seen a a fraction of the Prem this season obv but I’ve been most disappointed by Aston Villa and Everton. Both teams are appalling.

xp. Yeah, complete with Hansen and Dixon in Christmas jumpers. You didn’t see the game then? Very comfortable for Liverpool. Villa were so bad I actually felt angry. At least with Stoke you can tell they have a gameplan. Villa are just, well, pointless.

look

just

look

from 1:20 onwards, it’s just too much. how can you not bow down before this great man

amazing

+1

wls

Really wish i could post the photo that accompanied his Sunday Times interview

He’s just a big teddy bear really

a video of great beauty, on so so many levels

that was fantastic.

Ah what a treat, miss u Roy

I tell you, I’m never going back to wool now I’ve tried cashmere. It’s so gentle next to my skin, it’s like bathing in a meadow full of rose petals.

like i say, a lot of the lads will weear whatever gets sent to them, adidas, reebok, at the end of the day you’re gonna get these offers and all credit to the lads you know they’ll make their own decisions.

lol espn soccernet

Haha—now I’m looking at the other headlines for hidden gags

Wolves have conceded at least 2 goals in 11 out of 16 matches. blah blah it’s difficult to score in the Prem blah blah strikers overpriced blah blah if your cunt of a manager who allegedly made a living as a centre back can’t organise your defence to keep the occasional clean sheet then you’re fucked whether you’re playing England’s best right back or Pele or Dixie Motherfucking Dean up front cos everybody knows the secret to finishing 12th on the reg is to be DIFFICULT TO FUCKING SCORE AGAINST YOU WANKERS

[This post has been deleted by an admin]

also scott dann rip, clearly there was some sort of occult pact between them and mcleish which has now been broken

if Johnson was ShawXing dudes on the reg it wd at least be an improvement on his performance since August

still, rather be relegated than play like a McLeish team, never forget

On 6 January 2011, it was announced that Brown would become the new manager of Preston North End,[26] replacing the sacked Darren Ferguson.[27] In his first season at Preston, he was unable to save the club from relegation. He stated that “I nearly broke down in front of the supporters. I hold myself responsible for relegation, end of story” however “Next season we will hit the ground running – one thing is for sure, we’ll be able to run”.[28]

“A big factor in attracting me was manager Steve Bruce,” Turner told Sunderland’s website. “He has a real pedigree.”

“Michael is one of the country’s premier central defenders and I have had my eye on him for a while,” added Bruce.

“I’ve been looking to add size and strength to the back line and Michael fits the bill perfectly in that respect, as well as being an excellent technical footballer.

can’t argue with Bruce’s pedigree in dumping one go-nowhere club for the next one that offered him 3 quid a week more

i think that was his first proper sacking? also mcleish has never been properly and summarily sacked, was a sort of benitez ‘leave at the end of the season’ ish

tscchhhh my least fav fitba hack daniel taylor just voted the goalshy golem’s shinned volley vs city last year as the best EPL goal ever ever

I wouldn’t say Bruce was a *bad* manager—he was perfectly good in a limited sort of way (i.e. avoiding relegation with middling clubs). I thought the reason he was disliked was because of his lack of loyalty at the start of his managerial career.

The reason I dislike him is because his teams are painfully shit to watch. They just seem like futile creations with no agenda. Most other clubs in the Premiership during his time have had a tactical ~way~ whether they are good or not, but Bruce teams have always been a hodge-podge of players just told to go out there and exist. Has he ever shown tactical nous? Like if you look at his signings they have always been ‘well i need a centre forward’ ‘what type of centre forward?’ ‘who cares? just see who is available’.

It is the same thing of why people like Coyle more than they did Megson, at least Coyle’s team play a tactic and play as a team, whether successful or not.

I hate him for his disloyalty coupled with no problem ever finding a new sap to take him on, plus his toadying to Ferguson. Keano otm.

But mostly because he’s just a nothing, no style, no interesting quirks, no particular reason to wish him or his teams well. You’ve got to hate someone, and absent a pantomime villain guys like Bruce are as useful for that as anyone.

his whinging, dear christ the whinging.

He buys blanks that might be players but he can’t whittle for shit

Ouch, I just found out about Scott Dann’s injury and now I want to cry.

argh, the rooney’s video gone.

(footage of an extremely fat Ronaldo in a charity match last week)

related to the pitch invasion link I posted above, an interview with the founder, my friend Tom

4–4, both managers to be sacked by the morning.

This is the big one. Venky’s to hammer ’em I fancy.

fuckin soft

Suarez banned for eight games for being a racist!

....

good?

Of course. He pretty much admitted it. It’s nice to see a serious punishment attached.

Eight match ban apparently makes you a trending topic on twitter. I thought he’d died or something.

course

john terry denying it will mean that he gets a harsher punishment, right?

right?

Seven match ban last season, eight this. Wonder what he’s gonna do to beat his record next year

I wish we had details of the evidence. I’ll admit to being a bit surprised. Can’t argue with it, but that length of ban is very rare, no?

Ya IK, that’s how I feel. He must have outright admitted it?

He admitted saying it (whatever it was) but the way it was reported as hingeing on semantics and cultural connotations made me think it was going to be a ‘slightly guilty’, if that.

It doesn’t leave much wriggle room on Terry, anyway.

def. feel vindicated making that ‘who will have a more lol liverpool career’ poll in february now, even if ronan was annoyed by the audacity of thinking suarez and carroll could be lol

The statement said they are going to provide reasons for the verdict “in due course”

This isn’t very lol tbh.

I don’t think Suarez’ defense could’ve been “cultural differences” tbh. He’s playing in England.

“It doesn’t leave much wriggle room on Terry, anyway.”

This warms my heart tbh

I’m not loling but he’s a deeply unpleasant character and i’m not losing any sleep over this

i’m telling you, terry’s denial will be a major factor in nothing happening there

suarez admitted to using ‘negro’ iirc? wasn’t that common knowledge?

So clue me in, can Suarez now face criminal prosecution too?

very unlikely that evra pushes for that, am not sure if anyone else can do so

Yes xp, but if he was speaking Spanish then it’d be different. I don’t know what language he was speaking.

He could theoretically be prosecuted, but the verdict reads quite weakly so I wouldn’t expect that to be a realistic outcome.

It’s not Evra’s call, it’s for the police & CPS. But they need a complaint first and so far as I am aware there hasn’t been one (unlike Terry)

john terry was speaking english, i’m not sure that’s relevant tbph IK

oh that’s a beaut

Kean must stay.

Think it was supposed to have been ‘negrito’, maybe he argued that the diminutive form was especially affectionate/harmless? At least in an S. American context.

see yon wee black cunt

Relevant insofar as it’d have a different meaning in Spanish, is what I mean. I’m sure racist abuse in Spanish could equally be prosecuted.

i dunno, it is p lol that liverpool bought a dude like suarez, as if shit like this wasn’t going to happen.

cya all post-downtime, let’s hope shearer is in by then.

Suarez on twitter:

“Today is a very difficult and painful day for both me and my family. Thanks for all the support, I’ll keep working!”

kennethdalglish Kenneth Dalglish

Very disappointed with today’s verdict. This is the time when @luis16suarez needs our full support. Let’s not let him walk alone. KD

That club statement isn’t hanging back.

ffs Liverpool, we’ve been over this.

It is also our opinion that the accusation by this particular player was not credible—certainly no more credible than his prior unfounded accusations.

He has played with black players and mixed with their families whilst with the Uruguay national side and was Captain at Ajax Amsterdam of a team with a proud multi-cultural profile, many of whom became good friends

the american liverpool fans I know are v fucking annoying right now with their #freeluissuarez tags and whatnot

actually that’s probably not something limited to the usa is it

I’m dreading finding out.

I’ve seen some of the choicer RAWK posts

theyve freed nelson mandela, might as well look into suarez now too

looking forward to the EDL coming out in support of Luis Suarez

to be fair nobody appart from evra heard it, so he’s been banned for 8 matches on one person’s word. which seems strange to say the least.

the assumption is that he’s admitted saying something but denied that he meant it offensively

will the text of the proceedings or judgement be made public?

pretty sure dictatorships dont bother with those niceties

www.amnesty.org.uk/freeluis

They said reasons would follow in due course but I imagine details will probably be leaked everywhere by tomorrow. It’ll definitely be appealed too.

after what they done to a man like degsy hatton too

to be fair nobody appart from evra heard it, so he’s been banned for 8 matches on one person’s word. which seems strange to say the least.

Except he admitted saying ‘it’* himself. It’s not that there was any dispute about that, the dispute was about whether ‘it’ was intended as a racist insult to wind up the opposition, or a jovial term of endearment as used in Uruguay between good old buddies who were just having a bit of banter together. Suarez claimed the latter, saying ‘it’ was what Evra’s own teammates called him.

*‘it’ appears to have been ‘negro’, rather than ‘negrito’ (as reported a while ago)

Disclaimer: obviously I wasn’t there, didn’t here anything, and have no idea what the intent was

The more i think about it the more ill-considered that statement from Liverpool seems. I mean they’ve essentially libelled Evra.

1) Gah—‘here’ = ‘hear’

2) NN—yes, quite. Those ‘prior unfounded allegations’ consisting of....what? The Chelsea lawn mower comment that was never attributed to Evra and.....nothing?

And the Finnan incident?

Which was a complaint from some lip-reading fans. C’mon Chris

I know mate, I was just filling in the blank at the end of the previous post.
