should have four goals and a clean sheet on the FF
as it stands he’s got a booking and no goals
Crisis club United go top of the league. Come on Arsenal.
Incredible scenes in my living room when that Carrick goal went in. After five years he’s winning me over
I can’t believe that shower are top. It’s like when Belle & Sebastian won that ‘best band ever’ poll.
El Clasicoast in ‘not much for the neutral’ shocker. Lallana’s looking lively, Big Jos is entertainingly unsophisticated, Dave Kitson is being a pain in the arse, it’s all very masculine to the extent some delightful chaps rolled out the “Does your boyfriend know you’re here?” chant earlier. I’m gonna assume it’s Pompey. I’d kind of not be shocked if it was us.
Shearer’s just said Lambert and Lallana are a good front two. Lallana’s on the left wing. Though I’d forgive him for not noticing Guly’s playing.

“It was a big lunchtime for Queen’s Park Rangers, back in the top flight and a 2–0 defeat to Man United...”
What was the “traditional anti-Scouser banter” McNulty was banging on about?
John Guidetti (centre forward from Man City, but on loan at Feyenoord) is destroying Twente, hattrick in the first half, Fey lead 3–0. He’s quite the chap.
At what stage of the game? There was the seasonal “Feed the Scousers, let them know it’s Christmas time” song and I think Mr Barton had a good-natured exchange with some chaps when he took a corner in the first half
(xp)
Seems like Rooney already took that advice.
Liverpool sure have hit the woodwork a lot this season!
trying to tempt van persie into a move?
Not liking Spurs’ chances without both Lennon and Bale.
what’s up with MON’s number? does any other manager do that? seems almost more obnoxious than owen coyle’s shorts.
really no excuse for a team with modric, vdv, and adebayor not to score against sunderland at home.
There’s nothing to say about anything involving Villa any more, clearly.
good finish from pav
There’s no way Song isn’t getting sent off right?
modric just can’t score, even with an open net.
sandro out-parkering parker today
score?
Sandro- better than lucas imo
1–0; 5 minutes to go
ya ya
arsenal should have someone two feet from djourou at all times so he doesn’t have to pass.
craig burley says the younger-than-me zabaleta is a ‘wily old dog’. :/
tbf he must be about 200 years old

Clearly offside they’re saying
But that’s nonsense
koscielny did well against messi, less so v aguero
This is amazing.
tyler could stfu with the epl grandstanding, there are other leagues where technical teams play to win vs each other
It’s more like a proper knock-out game tbh
well yes but
It must be pretty frustrating as an Arsenal fan having to watch the likes of Gervinho, Arshavin and Chamakh attempt to rescue a game
stats pls, i am in a winter funfair fyi
It wasn’t a stats game tbh, City were a bit better but it could’ve gone either way.
’stats’ is ‘whats goin on’ fyi
phil jones the next messi.
white matthaus tbrr
It was a good game. We were beat by 1 stupid positional mistake but playing a team of City’s quality, 89 minutes isn’t enough. In fact it was 88 minutes because they had an equally easy chance from bad positioning in the first half.
Walcott was shit but the player who actually disappointed me was Ramsey. Fucking hell man, stop it with those flicks. He was more Hleb than Xavi.
Overall we were fine and most probably deserved a point. But ‘deserved’ is stupid. City are very good, even when teams attack them.
Bringing on Miquel, Arshavin and Chamakh is very dispiriting. (Miquel was fine.) Chamakh and Arshavin need to go and be replaced by proper players, Arteta like dudes with Premiership experience and know-how. Or Podolski who flopped at Bayern, either way.
Miquel looked shaky to me. Poor touch and clearance when he first came on and I think his positioning wasn’t great either, but he’s still learning too.
Chamakh and Arshavin don’t really belong on the pitch.
Arshavin’s performance actually made me really angry
Miquel started shakey but for an 18 y/o dude against silva, he did v. well
Arshavin’s such a puzzle. I could imagine it being purely a confidence thing, like he’s so terrified of making a mistake that he won’t properly commit to anything, but he didn’t seem like that before. I’d love to know what Wenger thinks.
what does the Ox have to do to get a game though? Surely he would have been a better option than either Chamakh or Arshavin
gervinho is fkn infuriating
uarshavin doesn’t give a fuck since his first uk ax bill
Who’s more depressing, Arshavin or Torres? I can’t think of many declines like them. Thomas Brolin maybe.
The decline of Torres isn’t depressing, it’s hilarious.
That (presumably Dutch?) commentator reminds me of a character from some sci-fi kids programme from years ago...
(still googling for this, he was on Terrahawks and used to say “aaaahhhh motherrrrrr” like he was gargling)
This guy:

Haha, he extends the r from “jaar” a lot, yes. He says it’s a contender for goal of the yearrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Unless I’m mistaken, that’s Yung-Star. You can call me sad now.
just seen the carrick ‘wondergoal’ that prompted my lil bro to ring me in excitement
What the fuck is wrong with y’all that was a dude jogging 60 yards unchallenged and passing it at a goalie.
yah
i hope u have censured him accordingly
he’s not getting his box til xmas now
Do you think the reaction might have something to do with who scored it?
he’s not got into the box since xmas 2007
the positive or negative reaction NN
Well i’d assume any Utd fan describing it as a wonder goal would be taking the piss somewhat, but it still involved Michael Carrick running a considerable distance forwards and successfully putting the ball in the net, so it’s still a moment to be treasured.
ive noticed ynahtid fans hyping carrick again since fletcher went on sabbatical, cleverley got k-d’d, anderson went below 29% pass completion, scholes retired, gibson didn’t retire and giggs just sort of ambled around complacently like the preening, overpaid, foreign bastard he has always dissimulated not to have been
I wouldn’t say hyping him exactly but he’s been decent the last two games and the partnership with Jones looks better than anything we’ve tried since Cleverley got injured. I’m never gonna actually like the guy (i’ve suffered too much for that) but needs must and all that
needs must but they mustn’t kid themselves they’re not
carrick has always had a kinda ropy first touch for a player with pretty good skills in other areas
i used to like him cuz he was the inverse of the boxtobox histrionics of other english midfielders, but he went too far in the other direction and became a bit of a ghost
he’s a passenger too often, has the ability to dictate but doesn’t ever really do it meaningfully-if he’s dictating play then you’re not gonna be breaking teams down.
If Blackburn really do replace Steve Kean with Shearer I will love the Venkys and their magnificent comedic touch forever.
Maybe if South Korea recall Park early we can send Chamckh in his place?
Shearer to Blackburn might actually be about to become a thing? That would be an ILF exclusive, and all kinds of perfect.
best christmas present ever
the former southampton ace will have known fuck all
napoli-roma was good fun last night. Roma won 3–1 after a howler by the napoli keeper gifted them the lead and napoli missed a hatful of chances.
Hamsik played the best I’ve ever seen him and yet still contrived to miss an open goal from 3 yards out by blazing over the bar.
So Shearer to Blackburn would mean relegation, a 3 year wait, then take over at Southampton and relegate them, leaving only England as the yawning gap in his CV. Quite hard to relegate England though, but I’m sure if anyone is up to the task it’s Shearer.
So Utd have pretty much wrapped up a deal for Gaitan apparently, albeit not until the summer. He looked good in the games against us but he’s also Argentinian and they don’t have the best track record at Utd. Still he’s a technically gifted midfielder, so screw it, i’m choosing to believe.
tevez was pretty good though
as long as the glazers invest in a good Argentinian steak house near old trafford all will be well.
The nightmare scenario, seeing as they do have half a team of solid performers, is Shearer keeps them up and is hailed as the new Houdini. Set against that, he’s extremely unlikely to be the man needed to tighten up at the back and coax performances from their unknown cutprice foreigners.
Most likely Kean gets the boot and Shearer’s on the radio half-an-hour later declaring himself flattered but it’s not the right time, concentrating on media career, etc. etc.
i’ve never seen gaitan, knowingly at least. in my mind he’s a bit gerrard-y, is that right?
venkys for poty
sian massey is my poty, for ridding my screen of the keys/gray axis of evil. I will be forever in her debt.
RIP John Terry?
More in the Silva/Mata mould a hoy hoy. Nominally plays on the left wing but drifts in centrally.
just heard john terry rip can anyone confirm
Yup, today we’re mourning the death of a dictator feared and loved by his people in equal measure. Oh and Kim Jong-il died as well
John Terry is understood to have suffered a heart attack on Saturday due to physical and mental over-work. He was on his train, travelling to offer “field guidance” to workers, when he died. Experts say there is increasing domestic cynicism about the regime.
it’s sad he was a cunt

Given the number of players who have never been the same after a bad break, the way Antonio Valencia has recovered from the broken leg he suffered against Rangers in September 2010 has been remarkable. As soon as he returned to action for Manchester United in March it was as if he had never been away and by the end of the season he was giving Ashley Cole the chasing of his life; the Chelsea left-back had not been so discombobulated since he was driving along in his Bentley one afternoon and his agent told him Arsenal were going to pay him only £55,000 a week.
hasnt valencia mostly been below his pre-injury forned?
struggling to displace nani, really
☰☰☭☰☰ SHEFFIELD UNITED ☰☰☭☰☰ 6 WINS ON THE BOUNCE ☰☰☭☰☰
☰☰☭☰☰ LET’S HEAR MORE ABOUT ☰☰☭☰☰ SHEFFIELD UNITED ☰☰☭☰☰
Valencia has been largely crap up until the last two games, where he’s shown a semblance of his first season form. He’s not struggling to displace Nani though. Young is his competitor for the other wing place and he’s undergoing some sort of crisis so Valencia is comfortably first choice at the moment.
It’s posts like that which make me think darragh has never even seen TWP and co. in action
i’ve never seen valencia on the left and i’ve rarely seen young effective on the right, so if there’s a fault here i’m more than reasonably certain it’s with either your comprehension or mr ferguson’s tactical acumen tbph
Nani plays on the opposite wing depending on his partner
tho i’ve hardly made any bones about it- watching this utd team- since maybe cron/tevez/rooney axis of scrappiness- has not been high on my list of entertainment pursuits
valencia competing with smalling these days anyway iirc
