Not that I like them or anything, on the contrary I’m enjoying their shitness

i prefer them to...

richard littlejohn

Spurs are still not a big club btw

City are beautiful and thrilling and hilarious and only a churl cd not love them

Can’t see Utd challenging City at all now tbh. I doubt Jones will get a consistent run in the centre either as our lack of a consistently fit right back means either him or Smalling will have to be used there quite a bit. Not to mention the lack of midfielders. Praying for a real midfielder at Christmas but it’s more likely Fergie will describe Anderson and Cleverley coming back as being “like new signings”

hernandez cleverley and anderson are not the spine, they’re the subs. This is a false injury crisis- if they were fit it would be a personnel crisis.

Wrong. All three of those players were first choice at the start of the season

ferdinand + jones/smalling/evans is more than adequate to fill one cb and one rb spot from, tbh

Evans has needed a run for a while, still think there’s a defender in there somewhere tbh

Yeah those players were definitely considered first choice back in the heady days of late summer when United were whipping everyone. Maybe not Chiquarito but playing Welbeck instead of him was just baffling anyway.

cleverley made his debut at the start of the season, ffs, or close to it.

Anderson has been squad for years

What’s hernandez starts ratio?

ie if they’re ‘first choice’ then you’re p much agreeing with my point-

Hernandez had that head injury at the start of the season. Him and Welbeck haven’t really been fit at the same time. The fact that Cleverly was first choice is pretty damning but he was still first choice

Evans has needed a run for a while, still think there’s a defender in there somewhere tbh

Good luck finding him

Exactly. No Utd fan thinks our midfield options are acceptable. It’s been the mangers blind spot for years now, dunno what more there is to say about it really

That was an xpost. And i sort of agree about Evans. He usually looks decent alongside Vidic but none of the other partnerships really seem to work

never replaced robson imo

Never replaced Arthur Albiston imo

ought to ave splurged on dixie dean imo will always get u goals does dixie

current side is crying out for a neil webb

Mantra among disgruntled Utd supporters on phone-ins is (Cockney accent) “We should have bought Sneijder in the summer”. They’d have won the league then.

cleverley made his debut at the start of the season, ffs, or close to it. Anderson has been squad for years

That’s kind of always been the way Ferguson operates really? I can only think of one example of him signing an established midfielder and successfully integrating him into the team and that’s Keane. The others have either been kids brought through/signed young and developed. I suppose you could make a case for Carrick but it would be a long and boring and depressing case.

sneijder is a hell of a tackler but he’s not gunna provide u the creativity utd ave lacked since lee sharpe died

Otherwise you’re into the realm of yr Verons and Klebersons and what have you. (xpost)

i don’t know if i can recall a midfielder who took three years in the squad before suddenly being good enough for the xi every week, matt, which seems to be what you’re claiming as fergie’s norm

real talk tho, united should’ve never of let william prunier go

Fletcher?

as separate to kids developed, tbh

Scholes?

I mean, “three years in the squad before suddenly being good enough for the XI every week” is kinda how young players come through anyway. Bale fr’instance. Possible I’m overrating Cleverly based on a handful of appearances though.

There isn’t a team in the country, including City, that wouldn’t be improved by putting Sneijder in the first XI.

spurs

And, as i said and you yourself made the distinction in yr post an hour back, kids is different

Kind of makes you wonder where Inter would be without him.

Sneijder > VDV.

And, as i said and you yourself made the distinction in yr post an hour back, kids is different

Dunno though, aren’t we talking about a player who joined United aged like 12?

anderson? 20m purchase think he was 19, playing in ligue 1

Cleverly- tbh luke chadwick tbh

Chicarito- sub

Dunno who else we were discussing

Neil Webb

i’m not saying anderson couldn’t be united xi standard, fwiw, i think fletcher and he would probably work well enough if the wings and strikers provided the product

Anderson has really been swapped and changed around various roles, probably a large part of why he’s not tied down first-team status

yes united need a good pair of midfielders, and quickly. but they also need players who can find & don’t bottle the final ball. too many games with loads of possession and no penetration.

also would be good to have a big proper centre-forward on the bench to get stuck in when the opposition park the bus and Utd run out of creative options.

ie after the first 20 minutes of every game

I’ve just waded through today’s posts and feel like I’d like to join in seeing as we’re talking about United, but I can’t actually work out what anyone’s talking about.

lol

TIT otm tho

a big proper centre-forward on the bench

I know just the fella. Actually, scratch that, he could be absolutely ideal for you.

lol to Ismael

carroll could be ideal for lfc, spurs, arsenal, etc

reckon torres will do really well in united

they could have torres and carroll for just £85m but the glazers are too tightwadded and fergie inexplicably keeps faith in 4m rated rooney.

It’s become a favoured pastime of mine lately to point out to Chelsea fans that the entire Spurs first choice XI cost less than Fernando Torres.

hmm think an in form torres could get a draw.

that can’t be right matt

Modric defoe vdv up to 32m already

kaboul parker bale ekotto another 15m

It only works if you put Defoe on the bench.

friedel, king, lennon, adebayor

xp

Sad universal truth

does the united “starting 11” cost £80m?

Significantly more

Rio and Rooney alone is 60m

lol

don’t forget wayne’s wages of 250k a week lol

Hopefully he’ll work out better than Enoch Dia

Is it his younger brother by blood, or his adoptive younger brother?

by blood. Enoch Barwuah

by rivers of blood

Just because he’s been giving me a lot of shit recently, I’m gonna keep this quote of lols around.

evans has a fair amount of talent

Schalke won 2–1 at Hertha Berlin tonight. Pukki with a sweet strike for the winner. Huntelaar got the opener, that’s 14 goals in 15 league games for him. Hertha had a mini break in the last minute when lasogga stormed through the middle, rode a challenge and was about to enter the box when he was tripped, buuuuut the ref had dropped his whistle and was looking on the ground for it instead of watching play so missed the foul.

Does that make Huntelaar top scorer in Germany?

level with gomez

or i guess that gives him one more? not sure.

buuuuut the ref had dropped his whistle and was looking on the ground for it instead of watching play so missed the foul.

I will remember this ploy the next time I need to bribe a ref

will be tough on steve bruce having to pay 7m for evans when he no longer even runs a football team

Second mortgage?

The ex-Spain, Barcelona and Middlesbrough ace was once the most expensive footballer in the world, costing Italian giants Lazio a whopping £29m.

Mendieta became a firm favourite with Boro fans, starring in a famous 4–1 victory over Manchester United, and to this day lives in Yarm on Teesside.

Chelsea have confirmed that André Villas-Boas has asked his players to involve him in goal celebrations.

The Portuguese manager made the request at a recent team meeting and a Chelsea spokesman told the Sun: “The manager has asked the players to look across and recognise him and his staff on the bench after a goal.

”He believes that by celebrating together it shows we are all in it together. That’s the players, the manager, the subs, the staff, the medical people – everyone working and celebrating together.“

think he’s had a bit too much booze in his trifle the last few days

SOCCER!!!!!

Villas-Boas suggested his team’s start to the season – they have taken 28 points from 14 games – had been made to look inadequate by the leaders’ excellence. In support of his argument, he produced a laminated chart that compared his side’s points tally with those achieved in the past few years.

“Chelsea, at the moment, have the same points as the champions last year and the same points as the champions three years ago,” he said. “And they have two points less than the champions four years ago.”

2pts a game is good enough for top 4, not good enough to win the league. AVB should stop frontin’. Also WTF with manager’s press conferences turning into powerpoint presentations, first Dalglish with his ‘poor lil luiz’ dvd, now this. Have some fucking dignity.

Shut up, he has a laminated chart

i stand corrected

He’s been picking on Gary Neville too. Where’s Roy Keane when you need him?

i stand corrected

i remember the old days when all a manager needed to do was reel off a list of ‘facts’, no laminating necessary (wipes tear from eye)*sniff*

xp

there is a hint of Rafa about the whole thing. I miss that guy

AVB should be grateful he only has to deal with G Nev, he could be dealing with Andy Gray and his ‘last fucking word’, a whole other level of idiocy.

‘laminated’ is a beautiful detail here, it looks so much crazier (I laminate things with sellotape, sometimes)

definitely has a rafa vibe about it all.

try telling that to sir alex ferguson tho! the manchester united boss will be DELIGHTED!!!1!111!

Noted Johnny Evans fan darraghmac will be pleased to know the much maligned Northern Irishman is starting today

there’s a defender in there somewhere apparently. I’m guessing it’s Evra, he’s eaten him and left a poor copy in his place.

happy 125th birthday y’all

Am on my way in time to miss the celebrations

Sam Sheringham reports: “The Specials were at number one in the pop charts the last time Wolves beat Manchester United at Old Trafford in February 1980. Mick McCarthy’s men certainly need a special performance to get something today against the wounded Reds.

yeah if only we had beaten Man U more recently than 1980 ;_;

Stop your messing around,

Better think of your future.

Time you straighten right out,

Creating problems in town.

Rooney, a message to you Rooney.

not that i’m expecting much from this afternoon, especially with Fergie in a savage mood following the CL exit. given Utd’s defensive issues i’d say the best thing wd be to go out and have a go, it’s not like we’ve been defending anyway. so i assume mick will field some kind of 6–4–0 set-up with 9 Karl Henry clones he’s had made specially.

mick mccarthy is a fucking clueless cunt btw, thought i’d get the message out there

wait

is tonight EL CLASICO?

iirc

and it is at fucking 9pm. i will only see like 35 minutes of it ;_;

Do you have to go to bed that early?

Marcus to win.
