Him and Xhaka in one team, I approve.
I’m really looking forward to Chelsea v City now.
Hm, Jibe moves to the land of the betting syndicate; a few weeks later, Lyon pull off a result like that. They only equalised on the stroke of half-time as well.

when is this?
dunno why jibe wld put his money on marseille over lille tho
chelsea—city is on monday
Oof, I forgot about Marseille xp. He’s got some explaining to do.
There are no quotes in that story
hahaha, love this ! hell yeah lyon, i can’t believe they made it through. i will not listen to a word said anywhere about wrongly disallowed goals in the ajax game or zagreb not even trying to play :) this just made my very very long day a whole lot better. i wanted to stay up to watch the game (which starts at 4am here) but decided against. kind of regret it. i’m gonna ask: anyone know where i could see the entire game?
also between this and marseille, i just can’t believe what happened! Usually french clubs manage to fuck up when they’re in good position to qualify—well ok, lille was there for that—but what lyon and marseille did is blowing my mind .
This site has full matches but you have to sign up http://www.mysoccerplace.net/
thx for that, will def watch the lyon game. now i just need to find a way to hypnotise myself so i forget the result so i can get the thrill of victory for real :)

great word.
appropriate too. great headline.
Thought Basel’s two strikers were superb last night btw.
Phil Neville is still smashing it:
“When I first came through as a full back, my main objective was that my first tackle on the winger I was coming up against had to be a hard one. I had to smash him basically.
”Smash your winger early on you don’t see him again -that was the rule of thumb 15 years ago. But football has progressed. We’re on tackling at the moment, but maybe diving is as big an issue, maybe goal line technology is.“
url is a ‘smashing’ punchline.
“when I first came through as a full back, my main objective was giving away penalties or getting sent off. that’s why man u sold me and i got swiftly ditched from the england squad.”
“When I first came through as a full back, my main objective was that my first tackle on the winger I was coming up against had to be a hard one. I had to smash him basically.

RIP the career of Jose Antonio Reyes.

This wink and little thumbs up from Zagreb defender Domagoj Vida after Gomís’ 1–5 is feeding speculation here that the game in Zagreb was rigged.
I don’t care, I congratulate Jibé with this fantastic result! :-)
Beautiful results all round last night, LOL Mancs and, lest I forget, LOL Man Utd supporters
fucking phil neville, injured bale twice last year.
Rooney ban reduced to 2 games. So he can return for the Ukraine game. If he plays like he did last night night England are screwed anyway.
was gonna say, the assumption that current-form rooney is even good enough for the squad shows a serious paucity of either strike options or willingness to face facts
last one
rooney has been shit for a season and a half now, bar little bumps in form. the young lad from city daniel sturridge should be getting all his hype.

yup, ajax were screwed.
Bryan Ruiz: “I didn’t want to go to Fulham at all. I was happy with Tottenham’s previous interest in me. They are a dream club. Attractive financial terms, and a talk with Martin Jol, dragged me over the line.”
“The fact remains that in Mancini’s fifth Champions League season as a manager of a club at the very top level of financial support, with a vastly expensive array of talent at his disposal, he has failed even to make it out of the group stage.”
mancini really is the worst.
yeah, he’ll never win as many Champions League titles as Wenger
arsenal wouldn’t have had a prayer in that group
football fans are still most disgusting savages

well, at least we’ve never failed to make it out of the group stages. but 5 times with the pick of any players he wanted is just rubbish.
They look certainties to be back next season when these experiences will be put to good use and the current squad is likely to have been augmented by more marquee arrivals.
god bless El Nultio
xp Mancini was appointed December 2009
by my reckoning, that means he was in charge for the 2010–11 campaign and for this one. that’s 2 goes
before we even get into arguments about how Manchester City—who have taken the unprecedented step of spending lots of money to buy star players—are unique in this terrible 2 year lag between having money to spend and a winning team emerging
Well thats including Inter.
oh i see it’s including Inter as well. lol false parallels

He never had Song in any of his teams tho, eh?
ahh otm, in the circumstances city’s cl progress is p much a glaring failure
I’m all for bashing wenger for not buying better players, but zinging him using mancini doesn’t even remotely work.
What’s with the pile on? Mancini’s recent European record is abysmal
at the start of August imo it was 50–50 whether Mancini wd last the season with City, but if this season isn’t evidence that he’s learning from his mistakes and that his team is starting to gel a bit then god knows what is, i’m pretty sure his CL failure this season will be made up for by winning the league, and i think he’ll come back with a better CL campaign next season.
When do UEFA’s new financial rules come into force?
“force”
They already are in “force” aren’t they?
Are they? LOL. Platini fixed it for Lyon to go through last night, so he must have some power
You can’t lose more than a certain amount over the next three seasons or something
I thought 12/13 was the year of FFP. But it invokes the three previous seasons, so this year will be assessed then.

And at Inter, he won the league by taking the leagues best players and... they failed in Europe and all tried to leave/were deemed a bit shit by Jose who tried to replace them.

Swiss Ramble did City and FFP recently—conclusion was that they will more-or-less meet the criteria as their income is ramping up hugely, and with only a little tinkering (e.g. sell Tevez) definitely will.
Ha xxp, I thought that was a mirror he was beside
guys
srsly
rooney is not as good as say nicky barmby, if you average it out over his career
feel the english posters need to acknowledge this and get some peace

the majority have p much always agreed with you? number none does the supporter thing that we all do but other than that, i dunno who you are addressing.
Yeah, and even i don’t want to talk about it anymore
mancini has made it out of the group stages before tho i think, twice at least
nick barmby, we all agree on this, explicitly?
Barmby’s highs were lower but he was more consistent maybe
making a better fist of management than i can imagine Wayne doing tho :D
Rooney—2002-present (8 and a half seasons)- 126 goals—14 goals per season
Barmby—1991–2000 (9 seasons)—47 goals—5.2 goals a season.
Maybe pick someone else?
barmby was pretty good for lfc in 2001 treble...was weird when he got unceremoniously dumped after that.

Roberto Mancini—Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roberto_Mancini
Inter were knocked out in the Second Round of the UEFA Champions League by Liverpool. In March 2008, amid rumours that he was to be sacked and replaced ...

Would love to see Rafa at Citeh with the full support of the board for just three or four more signings.
i won’t pick anyone else, tbh. rooney has managed 14 goals a season as the focal point of manchester utd’s attack, nicky barmby scored a good few goals in a career as a creative midfielder, or at best second striker, for spurs, hull, middlesborough, everton, lfc et al, none of whom were winning leagues or supplying their strikers with cronaldo et al at the time.
Barmby-level performance, imo, flatters rooney somewhat.
Reasonable Dutchman, emotional Latin stereotypes ahoy:
“If there was something unusual, Uefa should investigate what happened in Zagreb. My assistants have told me that the goals came quick and easy, because you can’t normally score these goals in half an hour. But destiny was in our own hands … I will have to see video replays [of the disallowed goals].”
The Lyon sporting director, Bernard Lacombe, said: “It’s total rubbish, people should stop saying such things. Did they open an investigation at half-time when it was 1–1? I don’t give a damn what the Ajax manager says. Apparently we are also responsible for the refereeing of the match in Amsterdam …”
LOL who’s the Ajax manager?
well, at least we’ve never failed to make it out of the group stages
Is this true? I thought Arsenal always used to go out at group stages? Didn’t you play your home games at Wembley and do really badly? I can’t remember when this was.
oooh, the annual 4–4–2 list is out. should we poll it?
“On this stage a 7–1 away win is an exception. Maybe I’m naive when I think it normally doesn’t work like this, but if Zagreb gave the match away they should be punished,” Frank De Boer said after a night that consigned Ajax to the Europa League.
“But I think it is hard to find any evidence in this case,” he told reporters.
funniest placing is rooney at #6 obv.
gerrard #78th best player despite playing like 3 games.
Essien is at #65????? No wonder print media is dying.
Barmby would run Rooney a lot closer in a pie-eating contest.
link? xp
Yes, can’t wait to see where Song is
he didnt place. also i have the mag, you’ll have to find it yaselves.
modric at #18 seems abt right.
top ten is ozil, rvi, pique, silva, worlds best right back, villa, iniesta, xavi, cronaldo, messi.
so basically if real or barca didn’t exist, they’d think rooney the best player of the year.
That’s it, you can type out the good bits for us
oh fuck, that’s a world list?
i saw rooney #6 and assumed league, and thought ‘that’s high but lol english media i suppose’

Complaining about Rooney’s placing when this dude is in the list is some serious fiddling while Rome burns:
