i don't think there's a chance in hell grossman will be starting for that team. well, barring injuries. i think they'll go after jeff garcia.

i spent a few days cloaking myself from reading nfl stories. post-mortem and all that shit. i assume mariotti wrote something about how lovie smith should resign, only one week after writing he should get a ten year extension.

erik kramer, please to return ; (

No, unfortunately that didn't happen as far as I know. But Reilly said he hopes to one day be waited on by Rex Grossman at an Olive Garden, and that Grossman was to Chicago what "scallions were to Taco Bell", a statement of which I have NO IDEA what it means.

i don't read mariotti. i still read the boston papers more than i do the chicago ones. the globe sports page is better on an off day than the best of the tribune and sun times combined.

chicago kevin is back in a new york groove (chicago kevin), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 18:28 (seventeen years ago) link

it might be wrong of me as a bears fan, but i was hoping the bears would win the SB but grossman would be awful. because one of those great grossman games would have resulted in some contract extension and no one else being brought in to qb.

bohren un der club of gear (bohren un der club of gear), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 18:29 (seventeen years ago) link

mariotti is the worst.

This morning, Taco Bell Corp. announced it was voluntarily removing green onions from its restaurants nationwide after preliminary tests by the firm indicated the possible presence of E. coli O157:H7 in samples of the product.

Garcia going to Chicago would be awesome and would prove my theory that it is the island of misfit QB's

I had forgotten about the e-coli thing but still my point was more along the lines of what gear just said.

i really was hoping lovie and the bros would raep the stupid legacy of ditka and the '85ers. hi, chicago isn't all about mustaches and fattey meatheads. (not that the nu-bears are any different i guess?). obv i loved the 85ers but i hear about them every single year. ; (

i mean shit at least jordan-era bulls were worthy of legend status. yeah, i know! i think ditka's non-committal to choose a side during the nfc championship buildup would help close the door, but prob not.

I love Lovie Smith. he's too good for Grossman and the rest of those assholes. but I am sorry for your pain, gear. you're a better Chicagoan than I.

not that the nu-bears are any different i guess?

this is what I think is so weird! maybe one year the Bears should try a flashy offense and a good quarterback? just as an experiment?

horseshoe (horseshoe), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 18:59 (seventeen years ago) link

Ally's right tho, it is time to move on.

clevo lk (clevo lk), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 19:01 (seventeen years ago) link

clevo lk (clevo lk), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 19:04 (seventeen years ago) link

erik kramer had a fluke awesome year when wannstedt decided to air it out (the halcyon days of curtis conway + jeff graham!) but they only went 9-7 and their D blew.

bohren un der club of gear (bohren un der club of gear), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 19:10 (seventeen years ago) link

i think EK had 29 tds and 10 ints. pretty good. the big problem other than D was that their RB was salaam. and their coach was wannstedt.

bohren un der club of gear (bohren un der club of gear), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 19:12 (seventeen years ago) link

harbaugh was a good qb. not while he was with the bears but eventually.

chicago kevin is back in a new york groove (chicago kevin), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 19:15 (seventeen years ago) link

oh yeah, I used to looooooove Harbaugh.

horseshoe (horseshoe), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 19:16 (seventeen years ago) link

when he was with the colts he was the poor man's aikman (for at least one season).

true re giants fans. jets fans, OTOH, STILL obsess about weeb ewbank & joe namath ;__;

OTM to whomever upthread recommended that the bears get jeff garcia (esp. since the eagles don't seem willing to let mcnabb go) -- that was one of the things i kept thinking about during the SB, "what if the bears had a REAL QB, like garcia?!?"

lollllllll @ garcia being an upgrade over grossman. i mean, he is, but not by a lot. anyway i bet GB wins the division next year.

horseshoe (horseshoe), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 00:04 (seventeen years ago) link

ok i should've just said "they'll get a wildcard next year", but they COULD win the division. the defense came on real strong at the end of the year and they have a ton of young talent. and brettfavreishavingfun

i like giordano's pizza but lou malnati's is pretty dope. i think mine is better than any of it but that's because it's my mom's recipe.
