Baldinger trying to eat the snow was the absolute pinnacle of anything that had to do with last night's game

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 28 November 2006 15:35 (seventeen years ago) link

anything is better than a dude who can't control a team, can't write a playbook, and has never heard of a depth chart.

and you were calling me a crazy person for asking them to hire mariucci last week!

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 28 November 2006 15:36 (seventeen years ago) link

jhoshea, i grew up about 15-20 minutes down the river from nashua. the head shop we used to go to as twenty somethings was there, exit 5 off route 101A. merrimack, nh also has a place in my heart. what were you doing there?

otto midnight (otto midnight), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 15:44 (seventeen years ago) link

being a condescending easterner, probably

Haikunym, Tuesday, 28 November 2006 15:47 (seventeen years ago) link

ha it's true! i'm from boston and i'm pretty sure i've been to that headshop.

jhoshea (jhoshea), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 15:52 (seventeen years ago) link

haha yeah there's been a lot of "o man we couldve had lovie" revisionism on atlanta talk radio this year. the story I've heard is that rich mckay was really high on lovie and nick saban but for whatever reason the owner insisted on mora. I sorta feel for the guy cuz I've always liked his intensity and how he relates to players and i like to think that he'd be in better shape w/different coordinators. but who knows. jeff fisher: bring em home mckay!

gahahalksha also did you guys hear about Michael irvin pulling a jimmy the greek? he is the most entertaining man in the history of football.

aidsy (aidsy), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 15:56 (seventeen years ago) link

i've noticed eerie similarities between grossman and circa '98 bledsoe. plays well enough to win, and a few games will make you think he's got potential to be great but then there are just as many games where he flat out sucks. plus, more often than not, there are a few series or at least a few throws per game that leave you scratching your head and wondering just what the fuck he was thinking.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 15:57 (seventeen years ago) link

that was pretty funny but nothing will ever compare to reggie white's race appreciation sermon.

jhoshea (jhoshea), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 16:00 (seventeen years ago) link

just in case there's someone here who's never been exposed to these profundities:

http://www.cbn.com/imagescc/reggiewhite4.jpg

We always should look at the situation and ask ourselves a question. Why did God create us differently? Why did God make me black and you white? Why did God make the next guy Korean and the next guy Asian and the other guy Hispanic? Why did God create the Indians?

Well, it's interesting to me to know why now. When you look at the black race, black people are very gifted in what we call worship and celebration. A lot of us like to dance, and if you go to black churches, you see people jumping up and down, because they really get into it.

White people were blessed with the gift of structure and organization. You guys do a good job of building businesses and things of that nature and you know how to tap into money pretty much better than a lot of people do around the world.

Hispanics are gifted in family structure. You can see a Hispanic person and they can put 20 or 30 people in one home. They were gifted in the family structure.

When you look at the Asians, the Asian is very gifted in creation, creativity and inventions. If you go to Japan or any Asian country, they can turn a television into a watch. They're very creative.

And you look at the Indians, they have been very gifted in the spirituality.

reggiepaws

i really can't stress enough how funny the michael irvin thing is, you have to hear the audio if you haven't already. he starts cracking himself up halfway into it a la GWB. i think the most shocking thing was his assertion that romo is such a magnificent athlete, but I'm sure he'd have a difft opinion if he wasn't a Cowboy.

aidsy (aidsy), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 16:16 (seventeen years ago) link

I've only seen the Falcons play once (vs Browns) but what I saw of their receivers was simply amazing. Never, in history, have so many been so open and caught so few.

LK, Tuesday, 28 November 2006 17:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Ally totally OTM about Eisen and Mariucci. I seriously think Eisen is always always high.

oh noes at tedious midwesterners and their enthusiasm, the rubes! the bears would have won if griese was in there, because the bears are much better than the pats if you put in a QB whose good stats weren't padded early on in the season. i'm not sure what griese ever did to deserve getting passed over for plummer, li'l simms, and whoever replaced him in miami. did he not have a good gameface? did he have the elvis grbac-style perpetual wince?

deep space nine (deep space nine), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 18:54 (seventeen years ago) link

omg Reggie White

Jesus Dan (dan perry), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 19:02 (seventeen years ago) link

i'd be more impressed with the asians if they could turn a watch into a television.

deep space nine (deep space nine), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 19:04 (seventeen years ago) link

i sincerely apologize to all tedious midwesterners - if you could've just seen these bears fans, they were total douches, really.

jhoshea (jhoshea), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 19:11 (seventeen years ago) link

Well, for one thing they were Bears fans!

Jesus Dan (dan perry), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 19:15 (seventeen years ago) link

you are obviously on drugs. yes, put in the qb who couldn't win the job in camp, hasn't played all year, and put him in against the 2nd rated defense in the nfl. that would make complete sense.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 19:17 (seventeen years ago) link

griese, i am guessing, would not have thrown dumb deep ball INTs. mostly because he doesn't have an arm, lol.

deep space nine (deep space nine), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 19:20 (seventeen years ago) link

it was embarrassing to watch rex underthrow on those passes. and again, no need for a hail mary with just under two minutes left.

deep space nine (deep space nine), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 19:24 (seventeen years ago) link

thing is he hadn't been completing the short ones either. i'm sure the bears thinking was: there's no way grossman can come close to executing this 2 min drive so why not throw it deep and hope for another bullshit pass interference call.

jhoshea (jhoshea), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 19:34 (seventeen years ago) link

i don't think any of this matters, the chargers will probably win it all.

deep space nine (deep space nine), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 19:37 (seventeen years ago) link

i enjoy the work of the chargers and wouldn't be disappointed to see them will it all - but marty schottenheimer is their coach and he is a playoff bed-shitter.

my feeling is the patriots should acquire randy moss and win the super bowl

jhoshea (jhoshea), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 19:46 (seventeen years ago) link

that would delight me for so many different reasons.

aidsy (aidsy), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 20:55 (seventeen years ago) link

Acquiring Randy Moss is maybe the only possible thing the Patriots could do to make me like them!

Well, wait a second, I mean saying "anything is better" doesn't mean that that is still not completely batshit insane.

xpost that is actually true, Dan. As a halfer, I am more comfortable with only about 10 people living with me at one time, though.

hahahahaha from the link:

I remember watching the show, real popular show, Touched by an Angel, and I remember the angel lost her powers. And the reason she lost her powers is she was trying to help a drug dealer and she lost her powers there and they thought she was dealing drugs. But they took her to court and the judge started asking her questions, and so she asked the judge a question, why is it that when we talk to God we call it praying, but when God talks to us they call us crazy.

So I just want you to know I'm not crazy. Okay. But in the process of knowing that -- I lost my train of thought ..... where I was going with that? Where was I going? What did I say?

Jesus Dan (dan perry), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:27 (seventeen years ago) link

wait, so, she went to GOD COURT?

grbchv! (gbx), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:34 (seventeen years ago) link

Jesus Dan (dan perry), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:36 (seventeen years ago) link

And I'll never forget the times we were doing it. We went to two old ladies' houses. We asked to use their electricity because we had speakers, and both of the old ladies, I'll never forget, they asked the question, what are you doing down here? We said, well, we feel like we've been called down here, and both of them said, man, we've been praying for something like this.

And I remember going into the communities and just talking to the people and preaching to them and did it for two years, and after that two years I realized something. People are tired of being preached to.

Vick has been in the league five or six years now and what you see is what you get - a marginally better version of Kordell Stewart. I know his receivers aren't the best, but he seems to lack any sort of touch. I'm also sick and tired of this cliché, "Vick is the most feared offensive player in football." Really!! If you were an offensive coordinator who would you rather plan for? Vick or say Peyton Manning.
