we could get a parrot and if it started swearing volubly in an nz accent ruby and i could blame each other which all sounds well and good but what if it repeated our denials and recriminations in a loud emotionless shriek that drowned out vin scully when f. was listening to mlb.com, that would be a big bag of trouble.

my dad, a chemist, used to order 'martinis' that were straight gin (with a twist!) and then apply a couple droplets of vermouth from a vial in his pocket
i thought that was pretty cool until i discovered that gin is fucking disgusting
can't really understand the human toll of the UK's industrial revolution until you account for the fact that all the sluggards and slatterns were pounding gin to escape it
