Hello,
I received their credit card to pay the charges as usual and the attached invoice was short paid. When I spoke with Al3x at B4yard he said this is the same ad that started running in 2006 and for some reason it picked up the 2007 rate so he deducted the difference. If this is the case should I do a billing adjustment on your behalf to remove the invoice from the aging? Please advise and thank you.

>>> AM1llar 03/29 10:15 AM >>>
Hi M1chael,

The ad should have been at the 2006 rate, that is correct. It is correct in AS and on my paperwork so I'm not sure why it would've been billed at 2007 rates--let me know if you need me to reforward the paperwork! Please adjust back to the 2006 rate.
Thanks!!

>>> MT0wler 3/29/2007 10:21:02 AM >>>
The invoice has a balance of $1,116.48 which I will do the billing adjustment on. Is that ok with you?

>>> AM1llar 03/29 10:45 AM >>>
Before I say yes, what order do we do agency and pick-up discounts in combination? I just realized I honestly don't know this! If we take the pick-up discount FIRST and then apply the agency discount after that, then that is the correct amount to adjust.

>>> MT0wler 3/29/2007 10:52:02 AM >>>
I don't know that myself.

THIS IS AN E-MAIL EXCHANGE BETWEEN MYSELF, A SALES REP WHO FAILED REMEDIAL ALGEBRA THREE (3) TIMES IN COLLEGE AND GAVE UP AND TOOK LOGIC INSTEAD TO FULFILL "MATH," AND THE SECOND-IN-COMMAND OF SCIUHNCE'S CREDIT AND COLLECTIONS DEPARTMENT. SOMEONE PLEASE ANYONE ELSE GET ME A NEW JOB I AM NOT GOOD AT MATH AND DO NOT WANT TO BE HAVING TO DO THAT NOW TOO.

there is absolutely no math in my job whatsoever ever. even simple counting is done for me by computers and shit.

my advice is to send him this:

dr ghost rider (a_p), Thursday, 29 March 2007 14:09 (seventeen years ago) link

ok that is pretty otm.

explanation as to why there is math: there should not be math, ever. the ad in question was placed four separate times (the same ad). so, on my system, i just have them all on the same order. so like, say, on my screen, the grand total is like $20,000 and all the discounts are done en masse off that. HOWEVER, because this place is run like fucking gangbusters, our finance department has decided, because this makes the most amount of sense obviously, that when they send out invoices, they do not send an invoice for the grand total that i quoted the advertiser. instead they bill each ad separately. so, their invoice has a COMPLETELY different amount than what i have in my system, and i'm stuck here--because, you know, CREDIT AND COLLECTIONS ARE OBVIOUSLY NOT THE PEOPLE WHO SHOULD BE FIGURING THIS OUT THEMSELVES--trying to figure out how the hell the math works out on an ad that receives both a 25% and a 15% discount (but not a 40% discount), that i'm not sure which order the discounts apply to.

aggghghghoanbkufnvufoapngbo8ars hp ahgofna gpafunbpnbof nothing i typed just then made any sense

and then i go and read gabbneb's terrible dc advice thread to really get myself irritated!!!! i'm an idiot.

PPlains (PPlains), Thursday, 29 March 2007 14:34 (seventeen years ago) link

every e-mail i send contains at least 5 exclamation points at work. i feel exclamation points allow me to say a lot snottier shit without anyone taking it too badly and, like, complaining.

gin and sonic (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Thursday, 29 March 2007 14:36 (seventeen years ago) link

that never works for me, I just end up sounding like JW if I put !! in things

TOMB07 (trm), Thursday, 29 March 2007 14:47 (seventeen years ago) link

The words "thanks a lot" should never be taken at face value, no matter HOW many exclamation points are applied. If I said "thanks a lot!!!", I was lying; I was actually digging your grave with a plastic teaspoon from the office kitchen.

okay so GWU did desposit my tuition check it just took them a whole month to do it and they felt no compelling reason not to send me more bills with ever-increasing late fees during that time because what could possibly be more important than fucking basketball

It seems that pizza technology has reached the point where turkey, bacon, lettuce, and ranch dressing can happily intermingle without fear of reprisal.

Ghost Rider, it will come as no shock to you that Pizza Luce is responsible for this brave leap into the future.

ranch dressing is not actually what you put on a club sandwich, though
mustard would be more the thing

TOMB07 (trm), Thursday, 29 March 2007 15:15 (seventeen years ago) link

hey john justen take sides: luce vs galactic

dr ghost rider (a_p), Thursday, 29 March 2007 15:19 (seventeen years ago) link

Come on now, what sort of lunatic would put mustard on a pizza? It would clash horribly with the mayonaisse and Cool Whip.

xpost:Can I vote for Red's Savoy?

i vote galactic because i think pitchers of beer are cheaper there, tho maybe i'm making that up.

I've actually only been drinking at Luce because Ian from "Drinking With Ian" is hosting bar trivia there, and thus it is a land of booze-em-up drink special fun.

(confession: I have never actually gone to Galactic.)
