carrots = outrageous

mookieproof, Wednesday, 5 February 2014 00:44 (ten years ago) link

is that a humidifier?

spite n ease (harbl), Wednesday, 5 February 2014 01:06 (ten years ago) link

Wait why was photo not rotated on phone but is when I view this on ipad??

Harbl, it's an air purifier.

I like carrots. They add a nice crunch.

tehresa, Wednesday, 5 February 2014 02:32 (ten years ago) link

i want an ipad but i don't need to spend more time on the internet. every morning i waste 20 minutes reading blogs and the baltimore sun on my phone! i need a real alarm clock and to leave my phone in the bathroom at night. outrage.

i also need a humidifier bc i wake up with a sore throat and my cat's a little dandruffy.

spite n ease (harbl), Wednesday, 5 February 2014 12:00 (ten years ago) link

B always sleeps near the space heater and she got outrageously dandruffy. My neighbor recommended fish oil and/or coconut oil so i went coconut to start cause it's cheaper. It made a big difference in like two weeks!

tehresa, Wednesday, 5 February 2014 12:05 (ten years ago) link

i want that natural light alarm clock thing bc the number of times i hit snooze on my phone every morning is also an outrage.

tehresa, Wednesday, 5 February 2014 12:09 (ten years ago) link

science tells us that snoozing makes things worse, but i can't help it

mookieproof, Wednesday, 5 February 2014 21:27 (ten years ago) link

ugh I know, it's the worst!

tehresa, Wednesday, 5 February 2014 23:04 (ten years ago) link

my cat clears up a little if i give her wet food. she loves to eat coconut oil so i keep meaning to put that on her dry food.

spite n ease (harbl), Thursday, 6 February 2014 11:42 (ten years ago) link

i caught her dipping her little paw into my mason jar full of water which was on the floor by my bed. what a rotter.

spite n ease (harbl), Tuesday, 11 February 2014 00:50 (ten years ago) link

disgraceful®

mookieproof, Tuesday, 11 February 2014 02:41 (ten years ago) link

my thermostat isn't working! I changed the batteries but I think the touch screen died because it won't let me adjust temp and is stuck on some random program so I only get heat at random times and I have to drag my giant space heater from room to room (or just stay in bed). I could get a new one but I don't want to dig out my car.

tehresa, Sunday, 16 February 2014 14:21 (ten years ago) link

I don't even know if there's a shovel in the basement! I will probably end up attacking the snow with my ice scraper (pathetic).

four months pass...

A/C broken. Dudes couldn't fix it after three hours but did manage to leave black fingerprints all over my ceiling.

tehresa, Friday, 20 June 2014 01:53 (nine years ago) link

aw terez, are you okay? is your domicile okay?

lxy, Friday, 20 June 2014 13:36 (nine years ago) link

Aside from the fact that my air conditioning still doesn't work, I am fine! The neighborhood is a hot mess and at least one building and a few cars were hit by trees but I think overall we were all extremely lucky. The weirdest thing is that no one beyond my neighborhood experienced anything remotely like we did! Everyone says, "yeah I think I saw a little lightning in the distance" but I swear it felt like a hurricane outside my window! Lightning hit a tree that came down a few feet from my window so for a while i considered hiding in the closet (so not hardcore!).

tbh i only really feel alive when i can see my breath

mookieproof, Saturday, 28 June 2014 03:37 (nine years ago) link

i put 2 shelves in my bathroom. i wanted to do a perfect job but it was imperfect. i made a hole in the wall trying to put drywall anchors into what turned out not to be drywall (i used studfinder but there was apparently some piece of wood going across!) then i concealed it with the shelf bracket. so that shelf has 4 anchors instead of 2 and two phantom screws pretending to help hold it up. i also suck at drilling two pieces of wood together. it's an outrage!

spite n ease (harbl), Sunday, 29 June 2014 18:42 (nine years ago) link

i mean 2 anchors instead of 4 duh

spite n ease (harbl), Sunday, 29 June 2014 18:42 (nine years ago) link

I feel for you, harbl! Don't get me started on the lengths we went to to bracket a bookshelf to the wall. Plaster is awful. And my floor is slanted! Hah.

tehresa, Sunday, 29 June 2014 23:25 (nine years ago) link

<3 phantom screws

lxy, Sunday, 29 June 2014 23:40 (nine years ago) link

I did woodwork for three years in that time I screwed three separate projects to the desk, sent a chisel and two chuck keys into the roof and was barred in two different schools from using sharpened tools

got a b in the junior cert on strength of my design and theory (the sycamore leaf came up and iirc I remembered it from an Enid blyton book or sthing) and since 1996 ive not done anything more taxing than assembly of units as and when required.

ms macs dad is a master carpenter.

can u imagine what yr master carpenter dad would make of you bringing home an ilxor, I believe I was myself the cause of the domestic outrage that time.

esperantzen (p much resigned to deems), Monday, 30 June 2014 00:49 (nine years ago) link

oh yeah, i used my iphone level. that thing needs to be recalibrated constantly. i need a real level. everything came out to 0º but the whole house is a little crooked so i swear it looks a tiny bit off. could be just me.

my dad is pretty close to being a master carpenter. he can build anything. i'm too embarrassed to tell him about my exploits. everything he builds has to be so perfect and best quality. he had so many criticisms of my house. it does need work though so that's ok.

spite n ease (harbl), Tuesday, 1 July 2014 00:46 (nine years ago) link

oh also i bought a dresser at the salvage store. i'll post a picture in a bit. it needs to be sanded, putty into some scratches, and painted. can't decide whether to replace the hardware or if it is replaceable.

spite n ease (harbl), Tuesday, 1 July 2014 00:47 (nine years ago) link

the anchors are 30 lbs each so there should be no collapsing of my shelves even with just the two ; )

spite n ease (harbl), Tuesday, 1 July 2014 00:49 (nine years ago) link

If your dad is so good at everything maybe he should do all the work for you so that you'll both be happy ;) I try to be handy but then I break things :(

tehresa, Tuesday, 1 July 2014 00:49 (nine years ago) link

Also I love envisioning a crooked house with everything perfectly straight but I picture a comical version of it.
