i went through a "difficult" period where basically every movie i saw that wasn't bill & ted's excellent adventure made me cry, so i tried to structure my movie collection so that it wouldn't seem THAT odd but then my friend wanted to watch cool runnings of all things and they caught onto me.

gin and sonic (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 16:47 (seventeen years ago) link

Wait.

Who in the world looks at a movie collection and says, "Out of all of these movies, the one which I really want to watch the most is 'Cool Runnings'."???????????????????????????

Jesus Dan (dan perry), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 16:51 (seventeen years ago) link

it was on tv. i do not own cool runnings. i am horrified that anyone would think that i do!!!

guys why are don cheadle and adam sandler apparently in some kind of 9/11 themed serious buddy movie together?

gin and sonic (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 16:53 (seventeen years ago) link

Laurel (Laurel), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 16:55 (seventeen years ago) link

the act before them was one dude with a sampler who sang really loud screechy noisy songs about kitchen appliances, mostly. it sounds cool in theory but in practice intolerable

husker du reunion?

also cool runnings is a movie about jamaican bobsledders, the only way it could be better was if a walrus was on their team.

vunderbar. our office administrator - who is total blood diamonds - just quit/was forced into leaving by our genius uk overlords, who've decided they would take on yet more of our basic business, which would sort of be ok if they were even slightly responsive and/or capable. there are five fucking people here now, including myself. i like one of them.

ZR (teenagequiet), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 16:57 (seventeen years ago) link

has anyone else seen this movie
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085608/

my parents are still traumatized over when they took me to see it in the theatre. i apparently started sobbing so hysterically at the ending that people seemed to think they were possibly abusing me. but fuck, who gives up a pet seal?

xpost ZR u work at my job and we should go meet on the 11th floor deck and hang

To Eric, she was his only friend. To all others, she was a hunted prize.

WTF

Mr. Que (Party with me Punker), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 16:59 (seventeen years ago) link

i do not own cool runnings. i am horrified that anyone would think that i do!!!

That was going to be my second question! I was assuming it was a gift.

I think that Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler's embarrassing new movie can be explained by the phrase "prodigious pay-per-view porn bill".

Also I am not sure if I can live in a world where "Cool Runnings" is considered great unless that also means that "Snow Dogs" is considered great, because as far as I'm concerned potato/potato.

Jesus Dan (dan perry), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:00 (seventeen years ago) link

To Eric, she was his only friend. To all others, she was a hunted prize.

I kind of wish the tagline to every movie was a variant of this.

Jesus Dan (dan perry), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:01 (seventeen years ago) link

(argh I am not implying that I think "Snow Dogs" is great, btw)

Jesus Dan (dan perry), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:02 (seventeen years ago) link

yeah reading the reviews i don't remember any of this intense shit, no wonder i was in hysterics.

gin and sonic (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Snow Dogs is great, yes, duh. but then so is every movie with a dog like Firehouse Dog

Jesus Dan (dan perry), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:07 (seventeen years ago) link

yeah ally I saw that seal movie when I was little and it fucked my shit up too, even moreso than seeing psycho at my babysitter's house when I was 6. Babysitter also had a pirahna.

also for as much as I hate all the bullshit in my profession sometimes it always lifts my spirits when I get to use the phrase "butt glazed"

break machine (Brian Miller), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:11 (seventeen years ago) link

That would always lift my spirit sometimes, too!

Jesus Dan (dan perry), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:12 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh boy! that bitchin’ in the oversized scooter sometimes it always lifts my spirits.

dr ghost rider (a_p), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:26 (seventeen years ago) link

that movie would've been so much better if that was actually truth

gin and sonic (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:32 (seventeen years ago) link

yeah, it makes me sad that Don Cheadle is in that movie with Adam Sandler.

horseshoe (horseshoe), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:32 (seventeen years ago) link

Ally have you seen Peyton on SNL yet?

horseshoe (horseshoe), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:32 (seventeen years ago) link

;_;
no, i have barely been home since i got back from nyc. i need to get a work computer with sound on it.

gin and sonic (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:33 (seventeen years ago) link

you should stop helping your helpless colleagues until you get a computer with sound.

if you do get to go home for a substantial amount of time soon (hopefully!), it's worth torrenting the whole thing.

horseshoe (horseshoe), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:36 (seventeen years ago) link

i actually plan to stay in tonight for the first time in forever! i need to get laundry done at some point so i will download while doing that, i think. i am dying to see it??? i heard it was totally hilarious.

gin and sonic (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:37 (seventeen years ago) link

dude it's seriously the greatest and the reason I'm harrassing you to see it so much is that you're like the only person I can think of that will enjoy it as much as I did!

horseshoe (horseshoe), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:38 (seventeen years ago) link

peyton looked cute in his suit. i couldn't hear what he was saying but i was totally ok with that.

gin and sonic (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:40 (seventeen years ago) link

adam sandler is such a fucking boxcar that i am finding it difficult to find calling him a hunted prize funny ;_;

gin and sonic (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:41 (seventeen years ago) link

I thought the monologue was eh. The 300 sketch should have been great but ws really boring, also it showed that despite being a professional athlete Peyton has absolutely zero muscle definition, which I didn't really want to see in the first place. United Way sketch wass seriously awesome and made up for the rest x 1000.

break machine (Brian Miller), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:43 (seventeen years ago) link

the 300 sketch was terrible, and the United Way sketch=sheer brilliance, but there's a couple other ones I'm pretty sure Ally will like.

Peyton has muscle definition in his arms!

horseshoe (horseshoe), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:44 (seventeen years ago) link

worst gps ever is pretty funny!

Mr. Que (Party with me Punker), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:47 (seventeen years ago) link

I just don't understand how "okay, it's The 300 with Peyton Manning" could have turned out badly ;_;

break machine (Brian Miller), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:47 (seventeen years ago) link

dude the one with the mouse riding the cat riding the dog!

gin and sonic (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:47 (seventeen years ago) link

I know, Brian; I think it's because the writers didn't quite have a second thought about the skit.

Mr. Que (Party with me Punker), Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:49 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm actually not at all sad about missing Peyton on SNL because I was very busy drinking all of these wines and beers at the time! :-D
