Usually I stay home cos going out is depressing and I rarely have a girlfriend at this time of the year.

This year one of my bands had a show booked so I tried to have a good time. We were playing when the clock turned, and after we did the countdown the singer said something to the audience about everybody going outside to makeout, and instantly everybody ran outside with their hookups, and it happened so quickly it really caught me off guard. So instantly I was standing there in an empty room. Nothing like a hundred or so people instantly running away to make you feel better about being lonely on New Years.

baaaw but you got to play for a crowd, that counts for something surely.

we stayed home and watched some of new year's rockin' eve. no overpriced bars, no drama getting home. it was fine.

now i'm at a cafe with wifi cuz my internet's down at home. they're playing "i kissed a girl."

Success! As I posted to the 'Sandbox 77' thread, I made turkey enchiladas for supper. We looked at all our photos from 2011, then we watched Swing Time with Astaire and Rogers, ate popcorn and drank some rum. We didn't get around to making a fire, but we did light a gigantic sparkler my wife acquired months ago on her birthday. We slept late today.

Am full of peas and cabbage and carrots and cornbread (the best part tbh), on the verge of a coma.

I hung out with my knitting friends on Saturday afternoon. We had a little adventure trying to find a restaurant that was open at 3:30. I ate nachos and a cheesesteak sandwich.

Today I am trying to finish my library books about David Bowie and Jane Fonda before they are due on Tuesday.

So my cousin called about an hour ago to say he would be coming for the waffles and games I'd promised my 18 no-show friends. My cousin said he'd also be bringing his step-sister. Oh, and his roommate. And his roommate's girlfriend, and his friend Ronny, and the girl that Ronny had brought home last night, who was wicked nice, but maybe still kinda deep in it, if I knew what he meant. And it wasn't really a problem, was it?, that he was rolling deep... six deep on the outskirts... unless they picked up my other step-cousin, and then they'd be rolling seven-deep... right? Was that cool? No, no... that they wouldn't be eating, on account of Ronny doesn't like gluten, makes him shit, and shit, but they had a lot of leftover booze to "kill and drill" at my house. Would I mind. I almost said no, I wouldn't mind. Because I wanted to see somebody today. Then I lied and said that maybe it would be kinda weird, on account of all the people I had over. And that was a lie.

So 2012 is off to a really super awesome start.

I was the first person past my threshhold this morning, as I went out to fetch the newspaper before breakfast. There was a time whenIi was a dark-haired man, before I became a balding, grizzled man. Will this altered state of dark-hairiness affect my luck?

Aimless, Sunday, 1 January 2012 21:45 (twelve years ago) link

My roommate just came home from France but he shaves his head, does that count?

OH GNUS (Pyth), Sunday, 1 January 2012 21:48 (twelve years ago) link

is he flat-footed, and/or does he have eyebrows that meet in the middle? if not, then you're okay w/ the luck – but don't do laundry, and try to wear red underwear for a good booty season of '12

went to bed at 7am, woke up at 3, got 'lunch' with roommate, sun is already starting to set

I just checked with my resident folklorist and she's at a loss. Would his hair be dark if he let it grow in? Aimless, I think you're ok. Remy otm, don't do laundry today, that's like dropping a karmic grenade down your pants.

I made venison mole on the basis that deer is good with chocolate. By G_d, I was right.

No luck problems there, and you will have a clean dog all year long.

raved in the rain at the occupy lsx party on the steps of st paul's cathedral followed by a friend's houseparty for bang on midnight. texted the most beautiful girl in the world who i met on thursday night before leaving the party at a reasonable (3am) hour and kebabbing a walk home.

have spent today alternating between chugging out 1000 words of essay and being distracted from said essay by angst over the girl's failure to reply. great start to 2012.

N1ck, Sunday, 1 January 2012 22:11 (twelve years ago) link

Haha! Posts about girl crushes always make me wish fondly that I were that girl to someone, but in real life I'm probably busier discouraging it. I guess I like to live variously through ilxors.

OH GNUS (Pyth), Sunday, 1 January 2012 22:38 (twelve years ago) link

I've also been drinking champagne since 2pm so don't mind me.

I am watching The Band Perry and Blink-182 on ABC after a $$$ meal with a dear friend

Kind of wishing they would book The Cure for these things

I was thinking something similar, although both of those acts you mentioned I didn't mind. I never had much HOOS for the Black Eyed Peas before, but they stood up well in comparison to some other stuff.
