holiday parental i.t. dept, reporting for duty

my brother has been sending me camera phone shots of himself on the bus to t0fin0 haha
i am going to send him shots of my (failed but delicious) gingerbread men (nb. not in shape of men. at all. i think sugar cookies will work out better tho.)

i'm having a pretty good christmas without family (have already had one turkey dinner, one fondue dinner, one dinner+pass-out-on-friend's-couch, and tomorrow is big christmas do.) but i miss my family, truly.

Rrob, I wd miss your family, too! What's the youngest doing? Anyway, you had FONDUE! I saw instructions for raclette in catalog yesterday and WHOA HI DERE MOLTEN GOODNESS.

youngest bro is surfing and pretending his kidney issues aren't as bad as they actually are, oh yeah, and going through crazy break-up (they own a house and cars together! i don't even know how that happened) by starting relationship with new girl (she is nice though, i am told)

Mom's fam is the crazy drunk oirish side w/rap sheets and drug problems, and they're still pretty fucking squee. some serious bummerz, though, maybe to be detailed later. most involve heavy medical problems and people's ears getting bitten off by town psychos.

speaking of squee: i heart the kittenboob. but that's probably because i love both kittens and boobs and am jealous of the kitten.

which is funny for many reasons but partly b/c look who's talking, mom. (also, next time i see my brother he is getting a punch for passing on that info.)

i frosted the cookies this morning! in neon colours! (b/c i bought neon food colouring - why get regular when there is neon??) but frosting is maybe the most frustrating substance in the universe, sent from the planet frustror to make me hate cookies. but whatever, not only do my cookies taste good but they're like a tribute to new wave + sofia coppola's marie antoinette.

also, finally interviewed my grandpa on tape today. Turns out he was in the Battles of Midway and Coral Seas, which I never knew. Whenever he'd promoted to Electrician 2rd Class, he would inevitably do something dumb and get demoted again. Something dumb would usually involve drunken adventures while ashore at Perth or various other ports in western australia. He described the members of the Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy as "good guys." The only black sailor aboard his sub was usually a mess boy.

And I just got a call that my flight tomorrow to the cincinnati hub has been canceled. Great.

how happy am i that my brother is the one still there when my mother decides to try and make her ipod work (esp given that she still cant sort out how her cellphone works)? very..
