Man, London has the worst records EVER!! I've been in some good stores and seen some interesting things for sale, but I've only bought like 3 things because it's so expensive and nothing I'm even excited about. Besides our exchange rate making everything double, things are just ridiculously overpriced. I went to one store where the discount rack started at ten pounds.

i am listening to the dead c/hi god people split now! it's great. the dead C side is two tracks from ATP LA 2002, titled "LA Blues" and "LA Confidential." Top form, I would say. Hi God People are pretty neat, also. They give me Hall of Fame/Davenport vibes; kind of drifting repetition into melodies and lyrics. mumbled, spoken stuff sometimes kind of pops up in the background. but then allathasudden they'll break out into a hard boogie riff for a few minutes. got a very hallucinatory feel. From Melbourne, apparently. I wonder what their CDs are like, but AFAIK they never got any kind of US distribution? I should check Eclipse.

I didn't expect to find crazy deals, but I also didn't expect to find Chuck mangione records for $20. The one good thing about it is that the stores are pretty nicely organized. Most stores have a kraut and a library section and one store in particular (intoxica) was pretty impressive. Tons of soft and hard psych, acid folk, amazing jazz, and post-punk. If I were rich I'd go broke there.

It's also weird that I haven't listened to music in over a week. I'm getting my fix watching either 'the 50 biggest choons of 2006' or '100 best girlband videos ever'. Arctic monkeys (who'd I'd actually never heard till now) vs. Spice girls. And who the fuck is this Lil' Chris? 15 year old pop punk kid with plugs in his ears. Fucking brits.

nearly all the beats on the actual clipse album are not so hot, did pharrell give them the leftovers or what? do all the bloggers who love this record have ears? i don't get it. the words are good but these guys weren't given a lot to work with production wise

when i was over there in May my hotel was right near Intoxica and the original Rough Trade. I remember the former had Bush of Ghosts for £20, which is about $39 American. I got that at WFMU Fayre for $8. suffice to say i didn't buy any music in London.

do you have this for real? or just a copy?

i used to own a copy and it got destroyed in a party mishap by ravers gone wild. (that's pretty much when i swore off djing for good. many, many moons ago.)

regardless, i haven't seen a copy since.
